Ted Nugent On His Upcoming “Detroit Muscle” Album, His Next Master Class, The MC5, Van Halen, Mitch Ryder, Guitars & More

Few musicians are on a level comparable to Ted Nugent. That not only has to do with Nugent’s long-term commercial success — his first 6 albums sold at least gold in the U.S. — and his prowess as an influential lead guitarist, but also his skills as an interview subject. So when you are speaking with The Nuge, you never have to worry about whether you are going to get much out of the Michigan native.

The latest single from Ted Nugent is “Come And Take It,” as slated to be part of the 2022 studio album Detroit Muscle. This one is a followup to 2018’s The Music Made Me Do It, which included the bonus DVD Live At Freedom Hill; its title track Nugent had claimed to be his “battlecry for more than 60 years.” Meanwhile, the man known to call himself “Uncle Ted” will be leading another Zoom-based Rock & Roll Fantasy Master Class on December 8, 2021, for which limited tickets are still available.

On December 3, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with Ted Nugent again, this time via Zoom and embedded below. Beyond Detroit Muscle and his ucpoming Master Class, we also spoke about Detroit’s muscle scene, the early days of The Amboy Dukes, Van Halen, guitar technique, and future plans for The Nuge. While not the first interview I have done where the person picked up a guitar and started playing their music, it was the first one where a person shot off a bow mid-conversation. More on Nugent and other upcoming projects of his can be found by clicking here, here, here and here.
