Music Industry Veteran Dren Starr Describes How to Excel and Succeed in the Music Business

The music industry, valued at over 23 billion dollars, is a challenge for anyone to get involved because of stiff competition and a lack of connections. However, those with a real passion for music shouldn’t lose hope of having a successful career in music. If anyone can attest to the fact that hard work and a good reputation can get you far, it’s Dren Starr, an accomplished music mogul who continues to excel despite multiple obstacles thrown at him throughout his career.

An Authentic Passion for Music

Achieving success with a career in music means having a genuine passion for it. Dren Starr loved music since he was a child and even found himself working as a DJ when he was only fourteen years old. But, his passion didn’t stop there. He’d go on to pursue other avenues of music, including producing, engineering, and managing artists while on tour. He used his passion for music to stay motivated, which helped him remain confident yet humble while connecting with others in the industry. “I started getting more attention when I opened the first recording studio in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. I met a lot of artists and even got a chance to work with Big Pun, completing the final interview with him before his death,” said Dren Starr. “I’d go on tour with artists and went on to open other recording studios throughout the city, giving more people a chance to record their music. It was a great time in my career.”

The Willpower to Get Through Anything

While passion for music can help you get further in your career, it’s willpower that will pull you through some of the most challenging times. Although it may sound like Dren Starr had nothing but good experiences throughout his career, he’s gone through his fair share of hardships. One of those hardships, a lengthy prison sentence, caused him to put his career on hold for a little over five years. “I was sentenced to prison on a gun charge, so that meant I had to put my career on hold for a while. Of course, I didn’t want to do that, but I had no choice. The minute I got out of prison, I was right back at it, though. I wanted to dive right into the music and get back to doing all the great things I did before,” shared Dren Starr.

With the willpower to jump back into an ever-changing industry, Dren Starr learned more about the new age of music, including the use of social media and digital marketing, while relying on his past experiences and good reputation to achieve big goals. He had a vision and decided to go for it, ultimately starting his LES BRAND, where he offers numerous services, such as management and brand partnerships. Along with his established brand, he collaborates with prominent professionals in the music industry, including Diddy and Meek Mill. Dren Starr remains committed to growing his business, with plans to build a legacy that will make his family proud for years to come.
