Essence and Coca-Cola Debut ‘Black Women in Sports’ Brunch During Super Bowl LVI at Inglewood’s Miracle Theater

Essence Magazine hosted their inaugural Black Women in Sports Brunch sponsored by Coca-Cola, along with an exclusive Super Bowl LVI watch party on Sunday, February 13 at The Miracle Theater of Inglewood, CA. The invite-only brunch event aimed to shine the spotlight on and pay homage to beloved Black women and girls in professional, collegiate, and high school sports, additionally including athletes of E-sports.

Gia Peppers hosts “Essence Black Women in Sports” Brunch

The Black Women in Sports Brunch was hosted by media personality Gia Peppers with special remarks from Richelieu Dennis, Chairman of Essence Ventures, Caroline Wanga, CEO of Essence Communications, Inc. and Chief Growth Officer of Essence Ventures. In honor of founding members of the Off The Field Players Wives Association, along with Black female journalists Cari Champion and Jemele Hill, sports industry insiders, media and talent gathered to kick off the beautiful recognition for black excellence in sports.

A live watch party immediately followed hosted by Beny Ashburn and Teo Hunter, Founders of black-owned brewing company, Crowns and Hops. The party guests were treated to a private tasting of their signature craft brews along with premium cocktails and a chef-catered original stadium style hot dogs creations, truffle popcorn and caviar nachos.
