0Blessings on Blessings All Around Miz Tiffany
Don’t call it a coincidence or a comeback, but on this very day in 2004, Miz Tiffany, who was known as the secular rapper “Tip, Tap, aka the Don Queen”, had a brush with death due to an auto accident. She sustained a brain injury, spinal cord injury, and several other internal injuries. Although she could not speak and was not sure what had happened to her, the Lord encouraged her to sing. While in a coma in ICU for 3 days with a brain-dead prognosis, Miz Tiffany attributed Jesus’ voice and instruction to guiding her back to life, as she was told to sing ‘Victory is Mine’ again and again.
Talk about full circle, this secular turned gospel rapper’s music and appeal has crossed over various platforms, both gospel and hip hop to deliver a powerful, uplifting message and example that no matter what – the word of God, faith, resiliency, hard work, love and dedication are the keys to pull you through. Eighteen years later, this star continues to sparkle by yielding her gift to a higher calling and today she has found her way to Hype Magazine.
Miz Tiffany has been coined a “triple threat in entertainment.” Heavily influenced at a young age by female rappers and business moguls like Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, and Missy Elliott, she is Mississippi’s first multi-award-winning female Christian Hip Hop | Gospel Rap Artist. Her trendsetting work has broken traditions within the four walls of the church as well as introduced a unique multi-cultural and ethnic style of music and ministry of the gospel, urban and hip hop communities. In 2019, Miz Tiffany made history as the first-ever female solo rap artist to receive an official Stellar Gospel Music Award nomination for Rap / Hip Hop Gospel CD of the Year.
She is an active Voting Member of The Recording Academy/GRAMMYs, Gospel Music Association/Dove Awards, Stellar Awards Gospel Music Academy, Mississippi Gospel Music Awards, and a registered Songwriter/Composer/Performer at Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI).
Tiffany also made history as the first female Gospel Rap artist to perform on the Dr. Bobby Jones Presents television showcase and she is the first Gospel rapper to be awarded and honored during the Jackson Music Awards 40th Annual Mississippi Gospel Music awards as “Mississippi Spotlight Artist of the Year” and a “Woman in Gospel, Making Things Happen.”
Her single, “I’m Souled” peaked twice at number 13 on Digital Radio Tracker’s Global Top 50 Gospel Airplay Chart as well as number 56 on the DRT Global Top 150 Independent Airplay Chart. Her hit single, “Go Hard” charted at #1 on Hood Idol Radio. She has shared the stage and various platforms with renowned gospel artists including Deitrick Haddon, Jonathan McReynolds, Erica Campbell, Canton Jones, Jekalyn Carr, Uncle Reece, Jor’Dan Armstrong, Emcee N.I.C.E., Paul Porter, Brian Courtney Wilson, JJ Hairston, The Canton Spirituals, Lee Williams & The Spiritual QC’s, Evelyn Turrentine Agee, and Keith Wonderboy Johnson among many others.
In 2010, she made her acting debut as a doctor in a stage play entitled, “What Kind of Christmas Is This?” She has since landed featured roles on both cable and network television. She played a farmer on Season 2 of Queen Sugar, and earned a core featured role on Season 4 of Fox’s Empire as Shyne’s children’s mother. She recently landed the lead role for a faith-based film entitled, “Shield by His Grace” that is set to release in 2022. Additionally, she is a 2X published children’s book author. She is highly sought after when it comes to features and collaborations. Miz Tiffany is lit! It’ll be interesting to see what she does next.
