DFW Meet Ms. Mary’s Southern Kitchen In Coppell, Texas

Mary L Davis, was born and hails from San Antonio Texas. She is the youngest of seven siblings. Family members include a long list of African American business owners and operators, ministers, butchers and several culinary chefs. After spending twenty years with two major corporations, five with Frito-Lay Inc., and fifteen Xerox Corporations, a job layoff in November of 2002 inspired Mary to invest in herself, using her 401k and create her own restaurant name Ms. Mary’s Southern Cuisine in Carrollton, Texas. In 2006, Mary was awarded The Quest For Success Award by the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce. In 2011, Ms. Davis opened her second restaurant in Dallas, Texas, Ms. Mary’s Southern Cuisine and Entertainment. Ms. Mary’s opened her third restaurant in 2015, Ms. Mary’s Southern Kitchen in Carrollton, Texas and now she has opened her fourth restaurant located at 605 N Denton Tap Rd Coppell Texas 75019.

Ms. Mary’s Southern Kitchen offers dine in service, drive thru, carry out and catering. Ms. Mary’s Southern Kitchen brings us home. It preserves the traditions and recipes of the past and ties us to our unique cultural heritage. Ms. Davis learned a lot of her business savvy from business mentors in her community growing up. Ms. Mary’s Southern Kitchen success depends on our people. Our culture, we believe that a commitment to uncompromising values and integrity should always guide our decision and actions as we pursue our goals. Ms. Davis advises, the key to business success is, “Do your homework, have a definite plan in place. Educate yourself and research your competition. Intern with someone who is doing what you are trying to do. You must have an attitude toward service to others is key. It’s the people, have a good team, process and procedures, vision and mission for your business. Be innovative and proactive. Ms. Mary believes that you must have a spiritual base first and believe that what God has for you is for you.

Mary L. Davis attended DeVry Institute of Technology where she majored in Electronics Engineering. She also received her Food Service and Management Certification from El Centro Community College. Mary L Davis is a Goldman Sachs 10k Small Business Alumni, received the honoring trailblazer award in The Dallas Area from The Oak Cliff Chamber and a Metro Crest Chamber Member. Ms. Davis is a member of NAWBO- National Association of Women Business Owners, Ms. Davis is a member of -The Women of Flower Mound. Ms. Davis is featured in October 2019 issue of D magazine in her business.

Mary L Davis is married to Gregory N. Davis and has two sons, Gregory N Davis II, and Michael L Davis.
