Live Session with celebrity Brian Henry founder of the B-Hen Block Party. This June, Henry has partnered with DIAGEO to kickoff Joy of June, a series of local events, programming and experiences across the country that celebrates the vibrancy of Black joy, identity, and self-expression, while toasting to the creative voices powering change across local communities. One of the special attractions for these happenings is that there’s no VIP section, guest list, or bottle service on purpose, this is a chance to step outside, dance, and enjoy music.

DIAGEO and its brands Smirnoff, Crown Royal, and DeLeon Tequila are starting with a B-Hen Block Party takeover in Los Angeles to kick off Juneteenth weekend. On Saturday, June 18, consumers 21+ are invited to party with a purpose and raise a glass to diversity, inclusion, and intersectionality while dancing and celebrating at the liveliest, most melanated party on the West Coast. That’s not all, DIAGEO will partner to take B-Hen Block Party across other cities this summer, including DC, Chicago & New York, starting in June through September, expanding Black Joy festivities all summer long.

About this year’s happening in Los Angles, he had this to say, “This Juneteenth, we’re bringing The B–Hen Block Party back home to LA, and making it bigger than ever by partnering with Diageo to showcase unapologetic Black Joy. Our community is doing so many amazing, beautiful and positive things — and we’re here to celebrate all of it!,” states Brian Henry, founder of The B–Hen Block Party. “I’m looking forward to everyone joining us as we toast to Black creativity, Black excellence, Black families, Black love, and Black Pride – Happy Juneteenth!”

I got to spend some time with this young lion and he gave us the inside scoop on his journey, how the B-Hen Block Party began, originally on his birthday, because of his love of DJing and soon became an annual gathering around Juneteenth (before it was a holiday) that brought partiers, vendor and sponsors from across the nation. Hailing from Baltimore, Brian Henry quit his 9 to 5 job over a decade ago to pursue his dreams of DJing. Having hustled his way to where he is now, Brian Henry has spun for all the greats from Beyoncé and Cardi B to Pharrell and even the Obamas! Fast forward to today, he shifted his focus to the B–Hen Block Party, traveling from coast to coast to give select cities a taste of the live action.
