Jakeluv Brings New Life To Hip Hop And Pop With Fresh Single And Upcoming Ep

Blending hip hop and pop, rising artist JakeLuv is cruising his way into the music scene with his recent single, “Luv Letters,” straight off his upcoming EP, “Power Chair.” JakeLuv’s single is an ode to inner conflict, particularly when it comes to caring for someone that isn’t right for you. “It’s about having great times with someone but there are consequences ultimately,” says the artist. As for the accompanying music video? “It’s second to none.”

JakeLuv’s music can best be described as original, new, and vibrant—with a whole lot of fun. The seven-track album showcases JakeLuv’s catchy melodies, smooth vocals, and thoughtful lyrics. “Power Chair” provides the perfect soundtrack to summer with its upbeat yet simultaneously chill vibes. One track “Say It,” is a snappy tune perfect for hanging by the pool. With the perfect balance of energy and calm, the single is bound to be an album favorite. The Detroit native hasn’t thought twice about “going all in” to his musical career. At age 10, Jake was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy. While the diagnosis was difficult for the artist and his family, it didn’t stop him from pursuing his dreams—and he hasn’t stopped since. In and out of studios around Detroit, Jake learned the art of music production, from creating to mixing and mastering sound.

“I’ve seen a lot of change in my music through the years,” shares JakeLuv. “I’m dedicated to making the best music I can.” JakeLuv is a big fan of trying new things and “continuously reinventing myself musically.” While he’s open to trying new styles, the artist has his process down comfortably. “I generally make the chorus first, then straight to the melody. Oftentimes, the melody comes before the words.” As for the instrumentals, while he works with producers often, he also makes his own beats. “I learned from a profound producer, side by side, for years,” shares the artist. And the rest, as they say, is history.

JakeLuv might have extremely high expectations of himself—“it’s a double edged sword sometimes, but I wouldn’t want it any other way”—but he always rises to the occasion. The musician was a rapper in younger years (“like a little Eminem”) but soon rewired his brain to make melodic songs with rap elements. “I’m melody-oriented. I’ve learned to understand what a good song is.”

Fortunately, “Power Chair” is just the beginning.
