DC Wavvy: 4 The Record

Let’s hop right into this latest single / video, “Tasmanian Devil” — Tell me about this particular track; how did it come to fruition?

“Tasmanian Devil” was the first song I made when I went to a big studio. At the time, I was upset about a bunch of different things and I had a lot of pent up energy and it kinda just came out in the song. I was talking about my girl, too.

Of course “Tasmanian Devil” comes courtesy of your still forthcoming solo debut — What all can you reveal and / or divulge about the upcoming said body of work?

My debut project is still in the works, but it should be out very soon. It’s gonna be called Wavvy, and has 11 tracks.

How then does this new material(s) either differ and / or compare to previous DC Wavvy entries?

I’m really excited for the album because it shows my range as an artist. I feel like none of my songs in the album sound the same, which is something I think is dope.

“Tasmanian Devil” is a Nu Music Group release — What particular string of events actually led up to this inking?

I linked up with Nu Music Group after dropping a few songs on SoundCloud. We met and they ended up keeping in touch.

As a lyricist, when you sit down to pen your rhymes where do you draw your inspiration from?

I draw my inspiration from my own experiences, and my feelings at the time.

Reflecting, tell me your whole inception into music — When did you first become interested in it? And, how did it all begin for DC Wavvy?

I’ve always loved music, but I first became really interested in becoming an artist in my senior year of high school. My friend had a mic in his room and we just started recording and I kept going.

Now you’re a native of Washington, DC, by way of Pasadena, CA, correct? So growing up, who all did / do you consider to be your strongest musical influences?

My strongest musical influences are Drake, Mac Miller and Justin Timberlake, to name a few.

In having said that, how do you classify your overall sound and / or style?

I feel like I can do anything, I don’t think I really have a sound yet.

Switching gears here…

What do you feel will be the key to your longevity?

Being consistent.

What do you want people to get from your music?

That it’s okay to be going through stuff, but it always gets better.

Do you have any other outside / additional aspirations, maybe even completely away from music?

My biggest goal is to graduate with my degree in business from the University of Oregon.

To date, what has been your greatest career moment(s), at least thus far anyway?

Probably my song “Tasmanian Devil” hitting 100K streams on Spotify, but I’m most happy with just all the cool relationships I’ve made so far through music.

Lastly, what’s next for DC Wavvy?

Wavvy the album coming soon!
