Meet People’s Party of Texas

The People’s Party of Texas is a manifestation of the idea that political parties can be more than what we have been told they can be. Political parties can be comprised of people who will work to lift their communities up regardless of their positions in political office. The people in The People’s Party of Texas seek to demonstrate that substantive change can be accomplished through mutual aid, community development, and direct actions, as well as through elected office.

This political party for the state of Texas was formed in 2021 by a group of Texans who share both the dream of breaking the corporate duopoly and the belief that all Texans deserve the chance not just to survive, but to THRIVE in the shadows of a failing system. The People’s Party of Texas held its founding convention in 2022 and has since been developing the infrastructure and networks necessary to begin running local candidates in 2023. This party’s structure, designed around the principles of sociocracy and non-hierarchical organization, was established to ensure all of its members have a voice in its strategy, goals, and efforts.

Since its official founding, The People’s Party of Texas now has members throughout Texas, with most of its current membership residing in the North Texas region. Current members largely support developing sustainable communities and infrastructure in the face of environmental devastation, the cessation of senseless and horrific wars of greed and conquest, ending the drug war and mass incarceration in Texas, ensuring all Texans have equal access to quality healthcare, protecting the rights of the downtrodden, notably those who are minorities and social outliers, in the face of growing oppression, empowering Texas workers through the organization of labor, and making those whole who
were irreparably harmed by the U.S. Government in such actions as veteran negligence, slavery, imperial genocide and displacement, oil spills and pipeline expansions, internment camp and domestic imprisonment, and the assassinations of our leaders in the strides towards civil rights.Now that the groundwork has been laid, The People’s Party of Texas is asking all Texans who desire to see systemic change and promote the interests of the people to join and work with us. The only people who are not welcome are those who are not themselves welcoming, thus those who discriminate against others can kindly fuck off. While the two corporate-controlled parties gate-keep and allow only the wealthy, the corrupt, the connected, and those willing to compromise and “play politics” to participate, we do not. New members can expect to be plugged into local mutual aid organizations and can expect to be asked for help and input on new projects such as getting a Library of Things going in DFW, running meetings, assisting campaigns, and doing research. Change and connection in our community don’t start from the top, it starts with the people, so let’s party.
