Akeem “Keem” Williams: Coach and Player Development Guru

Akeem “Keem” Williams, from Houston, Texas has a journey in the basketball world that has been filled with hard work, dedication, and a passion for coaching and player development. Williams started his career in Montana, where he played college basketball. After his college career ended, he landed a job as the youngest video coordinator in the NBA at 22 with the NBA’s Phoenix Suns. In this role, he worked closely with players like Jamal Crawford, Mikal Bridges, De’Anthony Melton, Kelly Oubre, Deandre Ayton, Devin Booker, and others alongside development specialist Cody Toppert, current assistant coach of the LSU Men’s Basketball Team.

After the season ended, Williams traveled to Indonesia to coach in the iBL before joining the staff at Coastal Carolina. Williams helped the team achieve the best record in school history at 25-4, but unfortunately, their post-season activity was stopped due to COVID. Williams then started PWR VSN, his player development company, and trained players from the NBA to the youth circuit, including NBA champions Quinn Weatherspoon and Eric Moreland and top 10 WNBA picks Mya Hollingshead and Meg Walker.

In the 2021-22 season, Williams returned to Coastal Carolina WBB program as an assistant in player development, out-of-state recruiting, and defensive strategy. After a winning season, Williams was given a job opportunity overseas to become an assistant for the Taoyuan Leopards in Taiwan for the 2022-23 season. There, he worked with NBA talents such as Dwight Howard, Troy Williams, and Deyontae Davis, leading the team in practice, game planning, player development, and film breakdown.
