0Ambition and ZupaNova: Spreading Social Change Through Music
Musical group, ZupaNova, is packed with more star power than the GRAMMYs and the Tonys combined! Davy Brown and Rawcel have dedicated their impressive lyricism and passion for social causes to create a sound that can be listened to around the world. “Pop Pop” and the exciting new release “ZupaLove” are just a couple of the songs that have taken listeners for a ride. In no time, they are transported to a world where diversity is the name of the game and dance music echoes against the walls.
ZupaNova is insistent that they have dipped their toes into the lakes of R&B, Hip-Hop, Pop, and Reggae. This is evident by their growing list of unique tracks and popular hits. The duo is thrilled for their upcoming world tour where they will be free to explore numerous countries while spreading their message of peace and love. Their work with the AMBITION foundation is notable and a great chunk of why they do what they do.
Both of you have quite creative backgrounds. Were you able to blend your sounds together quickly or did it take some time?
Yes, quickly, from the start. We had good chemistry and creatively we worked well as a team even though our styles are completely different. We are both artists, producers, and writers but usually Davy Brown is cooking up the music and Rawcel writes the lyrics. No ego, no stepping on toes, we just put our ideas together and do what we do best as a duo.
ZupaNova is such a unique name. What was the inspiration behind it?
We’ve always admired the power of a supernova in space, but we also feel as if the same event can be reflected in our own lives. Not only when it comes to our state of mind, but our music, diversity, the people around us and the opportunities we’ve been blessed to have that has kept us growing ever since we started with ZupaNova.
What was it like giving food to the homeless is your recent video?
Rawcel: It was a great honor to be out there with the non-profit “Starts with One Today” and Elani Kay.
They are on Skid Row every Sunday giving back to the people in need. Food, clothing, water, and necessities. I donated a bunch of my clothes, and I got the chance to meet so many wonderful people. You can’t forget that these are fathers, mothers, daughters, brothers and so on but they are forgotten. Nothing better can uplift your heart and soul than to be in service for others.
Why do you both feel it is important to get another person’s point of view from their own life’s journey?
We all live in a bubble, and you never know what someone’s going through or dealing with unless you’re in their shoes. Living here in the United States you don’t realize you’re in a bubble until you step outside the country, and you travel the world. You’re not the same person after experiencing international travel – it will literally change your life!
Do you have any other sectors of entertainment you would like to explore, including film?
Of course, that would be a great opportunity; we’d both jump on that. We are currently filming our own show now that is a docuseries along with Rich Girl Network TV that’s going to give everyone an inside look into ZupaNova’s journey as we build our brand into an empire. Giving everyone an inside look in the process, the ups and down, filming our “ZupaLove” music video, creating our fashion line to the process of producing our upcoming visual experience and concert series.
Why did you choose the AMBITION Nonprofit Group to sponsor the “Lucky 9 Educational Gala”?
The founder, Nancy Gale, is a dear friend of ours and we’ve collaborated throughout the years on events, visual concerts, and now we’re growing to another level where we feel it’s time to do bigger events. We were chosen by Nancy Gale to be a part of AMBITION and we greatly appreciate the opportunity to be partners for the non-profit. We have many ideas on upcoming collaborations from events to single release campaigns in the works.”
Do you feel your new single “ZupaLove” connects to many different communities?
Yes indeed, the world overall! We feel this is a song that will impact lives around the globe. It’s made a difference already, where we’ve witnessed people cry, and get emotional. We just performed the song for the CA Caregiver’s Mayfest event in Carson Civic Center and it was well received. There were so many heartfelt compliments about this new song. We look forward to performing the song during the Miss Philippines USA Pageant fashion show at the West Covina Sportsplex before our release party for the “ZupaLove” music video at the Fall Lounge in DTLA.
What makes music admired all over the world?
Frequencies, vibrations, and rhythm bring people together! You don’t even have to know the language of the song and you still feel it, groove to it. People really have an untapped power within themselves that shines when amplified through music and dance. You can change the world with music and make people move in sync together.
