Austin Mahone Announces New Album A Lone Star Story Arriving June 23, 2023

Global, award-winning and multi-platinum recording artist Austin Mahone will release his new album A Lone Star Story on June 23, 2023 – pre-save it on all platforms now.
Recorded primarily in Nashville, TN at The 808 Farm and Darkhorse Studio with esteemed producer Jim Jonsin, A Lone Star Story finds the Miami based Mahone digging deep into his Texas roots while also pulling inspiration from all of his musical influences across pop, R&B, country, rock and more.
Born and raised in San Antonio, TX, Mahone grew up a fan of country music and icons like George Strait. He burst onto the music scene and became a pop sensation in the early ‘10s after gaining enormous popularity from posting cover videos on YouTube. In 2016, he officially retained control of his master recordings and became a fully independent artist, releasing EPs and music entirely on his own terms.
A Lone Star Story, then, is a passion project that pairs all of those life experiences, diverse influences and Mahone’s natural musical sensibilities into an authentic and cohesive collection of work that fans have been able to get a taste of through recently released singles “Sundress” and “Withdrawal.”
On May 23, Mahone released his newest single “Kuntry” and premiered its music video with Taste of Country on June 5. Of A Lone Star Story, he shared with the outlet:
“There’s no track called [Lone Star Story]. I felt like the whole project needed a name on its own,” he relates. “I was born in Texas, San Antonio, and everything, every step from that day forward, to me, is the Lone Star story – and it’s still being written.”
Calling the “Kuntry” music video – a “turbo-charged, colorful backwoods party” featuring a collection of tricked-out lifted trucks owned by Mahone’s personal family members – “pure, down-home Texas fun,” Taste of Country also notes that “Kuntry” finds Mahone “trac[ing] a line from the pop, R&B and hip-hop music fans already know him for directly to his country roots” in the “twangy track that underscores his Texas upbringing.”
“It’s that bridge to show that I’m coming from one place to another,” Mahone shared with the outlet, adding that he wanted to showcase his roots in the genre while still delivering an authentic portrayal of all his diverse influences and stylistic leanings. “I’m not trying to slide on some Wranglers and throw on a 10-gallon hat and be like, ‘I’m country now,’” Mahone further explained. “I’m from San Antonio, Texas. I grew up [loving country music], and it’s nice to tap back into where I came from and do it my own way.”
