Janet Jackson ‘Together Again’ Tour Rocks Dallas’ Dos Equis Pavillion and Shocks Fans with On Stage Kiss

Global superstar and icon Janet Jackson blew fans away during her recent sold-out “Together Again” tour stop in Dallas, Texas as she (unsurprisingly) lit the Dos Equis Pavillion stage on fire. In true Jackson fashion, the pop music queen delivered a nearly two-hour, energetic, and well-choreographed musical experience characteristic of the legendary performer she is. Jackson shocked and awed fans during her characteristic “nasty” set when she planted a jaw-dropping French kiss on one of her 24-year-old shirtless dancers, Darius “Dario” Boatner. Fans swooned and gawked trying to decipher the authenticity of the moment, but were nonetheless enamored with the sensual theatrics of the Janet tour experience they’ve come to adore.

Public displays of naughtiness aside a moment, the concert kicked off with a jumping performance by multi-platinum hip hop star, Ludacris, who warmed up the audience with a bevy of hits such as “Move, B****,” “Get Low,” “What’s Your Fantasy” and “Act a Fool.” Accompanied on the turntables by DJ Infamous, Ludacris delighted the audience with mind-bending throwbacks to the visuals of his 2000’s music videos, with the hilarious donning of larger-than-life Air Force 1’s in “Stand Up,” and gigantic arms in “Get Back.”

As the crowd neared the end of a brief intermission to refill their Live Nation souvenir margarita cups, “fandemonium” ensued when amplified sounds wafted throughout the pavilion. Fans bolted to their seats and remained on their feet for Janet’s empowering and emotional marathon performance. Once their Queen took the stage for her intro, fans were utterly speechless at the mere sight of her. When she finally dropped her regal, purple-hooded cape, screams erupted and heads shook in amazement at Janet’s agility as she hit all her melodies and dance marks in a rose gold full-body catsuit showing off her svelte 56-year-young frame.

Miss Jackson gave the audience exactly what they came for, launching them into the stratosphere with remixed medleys including hits like “Feedback,” “IF” and “No Sleep.” For her second costume change, Janet stay gracefully clothed in a black and white sequined long-sleeve top and wide-legged pants that continued to flaunt her fit tone. As the packed house sang along to countless chart-toppers such as “Pleasure Principle” and “When I Think of You,” Janet transitioned into steamy love-making songs and wowed the audience with tantalizing chair dances and the viral on-stage makeout session with her dancer.

Janet took a seat in front of a glowing orb and spotlighted the talents of her full band, led by long-time musical director, Daniel Jones, with masterful slow jam versions of “Together Again” and the ’80’s classic, “Come Back to Me.” The Hype Magazine spoke exclusively to Mr. Jones who shared insights into the musical preparation for the tour, which involved “…me, Gil and Janet programming arrangements in-house and in-studio, selecting which songs work and flow. We try to flip up some stuff, and send off to Gil [Duldulao] and Janet for approval. We prepare timecodes that signal the lights and lasers. It’s a tedious process that involves a couple of months of preparation. The core band has been with her a few years, I’ve been with her for 15 years, and Gil…basically forever. We know what she likes, and we flow off of that.”

Janet returned to the stage with two additional outfit changes throughout the show as the stars and cell phone lights sparkled in the open and airy night sky. She kept the energy electric with hits such as “All For You,” “Come On Get Up” and “Throb,” and fans (like myself) began to lose their breath imitating her dance moves in the aisles. Jones, a Dallas-native expressed his sentiments on the night by saying, “it was great to play back at home! Janet and the crew were amazing, we did classics and songs we hadn’t done before. I threw in a couple of homages to my Oak Cliff family during ‘Nasty.” It was pretty hot out there, but we pressed through it. Dallas gave us great energy and it was great to play for my hometown. We’re excited to finish this tour off strong.”

While we still aren’t sure if the kiss means Janet has a new, hot, young love interest, it honestly “Doesn’t Really Matter.” We’re just grateful Miss Jackson is still touring and showing the newer generation how it’s done.
