Platinum-Selling Artist Mcvertt Shares “Face Down” Ft. A$ap Ferg & Sexyy Red

A major player in Jersey club’s recent creative and commercial renaissance, MCVERTT connects the streets and the dancefloor with his high-octane production. Today, the multi-platinum artist behind hits like Lil Uzi Vert’s “Just Wanna Rock” shares “FACE DOWN,” a new single featuring Sexyy Red and A$AP Ferg. A chaotic banger purpose-built for unhinged hip-shaking, “Face Down” highlights MCVERTT’s talents for inspiring hedonistic pandemonium, combining club music’s insistent five-beat pattern with an atonal synth pattern that evokes the sound of a dial-up internet connection. Ferg leads off the song with a reference to a 2 Live Crew classic, matching the beat’s wild energy by barking like a dog. St. Louis sensation Sexyy Red pops by, bringing her some of her most quotable X-rated bars to date.

“Face Down” is the latest single from the upcoming Defiant Presents: Jiggy In Jersey (ft. MCVERTT), a supersized tape that shows off the talents of MCVERTT, ascendant Newark club rapper Bandmanrill, and Bronx rapper Sha Ek. United under the banner of Defiant Presents, the Trio’s upcoming project demonstrates the Earth-shaking chemistry between Bandman’s smooth, rapid-fire rhymes, Sha’s booming delivery, and MCVERTT’s indomitable, high-BPM production. Spanning 27 tracks, including the third installment of the epic “Jiggy In Jersey” trilogy, the recently released “Pistons,” and the Crystal Waters-sampling single “Mr. D.C.T.,”

About MCVERTT:

It’s said that necessity is the mother of invention. That’s never truer than for MCVERTT, the producer who has recently made Jersey club music the hottest new thing in hip-hop through his work with his close collaborator, Bandmanrill, and a host of other MCs. But at first, the beats were merely a means to an end. “I was really a dancer,” the Jersey City-born, Newark-raised producer says. He grew up watching videos of Michael Jackson and Chris Brown, and by the time he entered his teen years, he was deeply involved in the local dance scene, which was driven by Jersey club’s breakneck pace and highly technical hairpin turns of tone and cadence. He and his friends would attend battles and upload their latest dances to YouTube; for a time, the skills VERTT had picked up in a music production class in high school were simply the necessary scaffolding to get their feet moving. Working in the tradition of club music pioneers like DJ Jayhood, DJ PoppaDubb, DJ Big O, and Lil C4, VERTT’s beats are nevertheless radically forward-thinking: full of unbridled energy, tension and release, suspense, and catharsis. In addition to his work with Bandman, VERTT has fashioned songs for a who’s-who of young rappers throughout the Tri-State, including many of New York drill’s brightest young talents like Sugarhill DDot and viral stars IShowSpeed and Prince Raheem. He also laced Lil Uzi Vert—the inspiration for his name—with “Just Wanna Rock,” which sent shockwaves through the music industry when it dropped, reaching the top ten on Billboard’s Hot 100 and confirming club music’s leap into the mainstream.

About Bandmanrill:

Over the past 18 months, Bandmanrill, Sha EK, and MCVERTT have proven to be three of the most influential forces in the East Coast rap scene. Bandmanrill’s spectacular 2022 featured dancefloor-shaking hits like the FADER-acclaimed “REAL HIPS,” culminating in his debut album Club Godfather, which Pitchfork praised as “breakneck” and “intoxicating.”

About Sha Ek:

Known for his natural megaphone of a voice, 20-year-old Sha EK reached the #1 spot on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart with his debut Face Of The What, and connected with Bandman for the East Coast anthem “WHO YOU TOUCH.” Sha has been keeping the streets hot with recent singles like “Love For My Block,” “Too Oppy Pt. 2,” and “No Comin Back.
