Rising Hip-Hop Artist Rebel Ramon on How He Mastered the Business of the Music Before Becoming An Artist

They say the music business is 90% business and that couldn’t be better for rising Hip Hop star Rebel Ramon. The Southern artist obtained his bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing and not long after, he earned over 300,000 streams on Spotify for his latest single “Swimming.”

“I did not like the way artists were perceived and treated,” said Ramon. “It made me want to go get my own money and build my own company.”

His first was a commercial cleaning company he built from the ground up and turned into a 6-figure business in less than 11 months. He also has an investment company that focuses mainly on real estate. The young MC of course manages his creative projects under his business and multi-media company Modern Genius. He has written, produced, and directed some short films over the years under Modern Genius. Though business is clearly going well for Ramon, he couldn’t ignore his true love for hip-hop.

“I have loved Hip-Hop since I was born, far before I wanted to do my own music. The creative expression, culture, visceral connection with the artists I grew up loving,” he said. “I am inspired to contribute to the culture and carve my own niche in history.”

His sound can best be described as southern lyricism, a mix of energy and emotions but what will separate him from this competitive industry is his versatility. He can make turn-up music, songs for women, and reality rap all at high levels. He is also a great storyteller, not just from creativity but through real-life personal experiences.

Ramon grew up in poverty and watched multiple family members suffer from extreme substance abuse. His father passed away from alcoholism. He wants to create music for people who are going through real-life situations and can turn to his art in tough
situations. He believes being able to express yourself and create art is the best feeling ever but seeing someone enjoy it brings everything full circle.

“I want to be known as a multi-media mogul. A great and fair entrepreneur. A life-changing philanthropist. If I am blessed with it one day a great family man.”
