Unlock a World of Musical Depth with The Dialogue and ‘Begin Again’

With this magnificent rock anthem, Florida-based group The Dialogue makes a compelling case for why their music deserves your ears.

Composed of two gifted multi-instrumentalists and singer/songwriters – Angela Galestro and Paul Cuevas – The Dialogue’s new single ‘Begin Again’ shows why this as yet undiscovered act might well be one of the most exciting groups operating in America at the moment.

With Angela based in Sarasota and Paul based in Orlando, The Dialogue originates from the enduring decade-long friendship between the duo, despite living in different cities. According to the band, their music “merges a rich tapestry of influences spanning blues, salsa, classical, folk, pop, jazz, and classic rock.” At the same time, lyrically, their songs are grounded in a “profound appreciation for language and poetry.”

If that sounds like a heady, impossible juggling act of genres, listen to ‘Begin Again’ to get a taste of how The Dialogue can take elements of different styles and seamlessly mold them into their unique ones.

‘Begin Again’ is a power ballad in the best, truest sense of the term. The song combines rousing melodies – driven by Angela’s effortlessly excellent piano work and guitarist Jonathan Smith’s soaring solos – with lyrics deep in metaphorical resonance. The song takes the imagery of flowers – “folding,” “blooming,” “withering,” and “plucked” – as a conceit for how change is inevitable in all aspects of nature (including human nature, of course). The song is made rich by Angela and Paul’s complementing harmonies. Not only are their voices discretely enchanting, but each singer delivers the lyrics so that they make them sound real, shimmering, and hard-earned. This is where the emotion shines through.

The group said about their songwriting process: “[Our] collective collaborative process is interesting and vast. Songs might burgeon from spontaneous jams or deeply shared emotional currents.”

Whatever they’re doing, they’re absolutely doing it right.
