Jay Wile’s New DIY EP ‘Somewhere in Mind’ Inspiration Triggered by Simulation Theory

Mixed and mastered by Jay Wile, the 6-track project is truly a self-made collaboration as Wile independently produced each record with the help of his buddies out of Austin, TX, along with many other talented musicians and writers from the US, while still maintaining his DIY essence.

In a world where people are increasingly more disconnected than ever via social media, Wile intended each record off ‘Somewhere in Mind’ to hopefully spark a sense of connection between its listeners. Feeling isolated and alone during the two years he took to create this project, Wile found inspiration pulling from the widely publicized Computationalism theory – which is the belief that reality, including the world we live in, is nothing more than a simulation, likely a computer simulation generated within conscious thought.

“The inspiration forSomewhere in Mind’ came to me as I was driving to work one day – while I was working on this project I was in a very weird state of mind. I was feeling really isolated and alone, even though I was surrounded by friends and family, Jay Wile explains. “The concept of being somewhere in mind stems from the disconnect between what’s happening in real life and how your mind shapes reality. For me, it’s about finding a balance between being present, while also trying to navigate the digital world and not being consumed by it.”

Recently wrapping up a string of summer shows, including opening for Kyle Dion in Dallas as well as headlining Genius x Ciroc’s Summer Sessions in Brooklyn, the rising singer/songwriter is now gearing up for his next live gig in his hometown of San Antonio at the Mala Luna Music Festival on Oct 26-27.

On May 29th, Wile released an 8-track EP entitled ‘The Bloom Series’, which has to date has earned over 1 million+ plays on Spotify.

Prior to ‘The Bloom Series’, Wile released two EPs – ‘In Between’ (2016) and ‘Blue Patio’ (2017). The crooner’s musical stylings are noted with catchy melodies and rhyming lyrics following themes of love, desire, and heartbreak, which he explains is heavily influenced by his biggest inspirations and r&b/soul legends Stevie Wonder, Al Green, John Legend, and Frank Ocean. Wile is revered as one of BandsInTown’s 2019 Big Break Artists.
