Trinidad James celebrated Father’s Day with “Dad” music video

Trinidad James drops his newest single, “Dad,” and the video for it. Check it out here. Perfectly timed with Father’s Day. Trinidad also announced the title of his upcoming project, FATHER FiGGA, which is set to release this summer. Additionally, the single art for “Dad” is available as postcards and can be purchased here for the holiday.

Produced by Honorable C Note, “Dad” is the first single from FATHER FiGGA. “Every child needs a ‘father figga’,” says Trinidad. “Bad fathers help mold great mothers, and good fathers help mold great women.” While the “Dad” single and video is a playful take on the title, FATHER FiGGA is a profile of the various traits and takes on the role. The 9-track project will feature production from Sonny Digital, Ricky Racks, Young Fyre, and Nard n B. It continues a strong year of new releases from Trinidad earlier, which includes two mixtapes, The Purple Force and The Wake Up 2, as well as loosies “Purple Turtle$” and “Asparagus.” The second half of 2017 sees Trinidad continuing to release new music, including a collaborative project with Nard n B and another one with Supah Mario. He’s also set to guest star in the acclaimed musical comedy, Pitch Perfect 3, to be in theaters this holiday season.

Trinidad James was ahead of his time. In 2012, the overnight success of his single, “All Gold Everything,” led him to become one of the earliest rappers to go viral (and become a meme) and get signed based off of Internet hype. From having the hit single (“All Gold Everything” certified gold and landed on Billboard Hot 100) to rocking a colorful persona that not only matched his bold lyrics, but also quickly transpired into a brand, Trinidad was the formula. Later came the likes of Lil Yachty, Desiigner, Fetty Wap, but before them was Trinidad James.
