Hopsin’s ‘Pound Syndrome’ now in stores; drops ‘The Pound’ video + Funk Volume tour

HOPSIN’S POUND SYNDROME LP LANDS IN STORES WITH NEW VIDEO FOR ALBUM INTRO, “THE POUND”

WILL HEADLINE “THE FUNK VOLUME TOUR 2015” WITH DIZZY WRIGHT, JARREN BENTON, AND DJ HOPPA

Funk Volume’s Hopsin returns today, Friday July 24th, with his new album Pound Syndrome.  “It’s all just dope Hip Hop,” he says of the LP in a recent interview. “That’s pretty much what I was going for. It’s not like a themed album where it has a storyline or anything like that. It’s just dope songs, but they all kind of fit together.”  The new album is a follow-up to 2013’s Knock Madness and what he sees as a fresh start.  “It’s just an album that I kind of wanted to redeem myself on from my last album because I didn’t like it.”

Led by the singles “Crown Me” and “Fly,” the 14-track, self-contained album was produced, written and engineered by the 2012 XXL Freshman Classmen with the only his Funk Volume family Dizzy Wright, Jarren Benton and SwizZz making guest appearances.   On looking within to create the album, Hopsin explains, “I took a lot more time and studied everything when it comes to mixing and mastering, different plug-ins to use and I just kinda wanted to step my game up on that side of making music.  I took a year of just learning and sitting with other producers and everything, asked them questions and just trying to step my game up.”

To coincide with the release, Hopsin has released a new, sci-fi themed visual for the album intro, “The Pound” which is directed by Matt Alonzo.
