The Hype Magazine Interview with Jopaul

JopauL is that guy with nonstop energy that cares about everyone else having a good time before he even does. In a nutshell, he’s the life of the party that lives by the motto…”we are only here for a small cup of coffee…I’m just trying to drink it while it’s still hot.”

Tell us about your current project?

The current project is the R&B/Dance smash called “You Got It” Ft Dudley Stevenson which is currently #26 on the National Top 50 R&B/Hip Hop Airplay charts according to Digital Radio Tracker. In addition to the radio charts, the video which was filmed in the tropical paradise of Costa Rica, is currently over 150k views on Vevo as well playing in Top Tier rotation positions on 2 OVNIO network channels.

What’s happened in your career that makes you feel this is the industry for you?

The reception that I get from my fans is a major driving force for what I do. As long as my fans keep appreciating my music, I have no reason to even think about slowing down. To have them reach out to me directly to tell them what my song lyrics mean to them and how it motivated them to do better in some form of way is like going Platinum for me each and every time.

What makes you the next great happening?

My drive and my passion are the lifeline to my future success. I love music and love what I do, it provides a tremendous platform for me to reach people instantaneously on, so in combination with that plus my consistency with great material and a having an incredible team separates me from other independent artists.

Are your currently signed to a label or have any situation in the making?

I am currently signed to a production deal with DWE and always looking for the right situation to develop and exploit my talents, bringing out the best of my artistic qualities for the world to enjoy. I love being Independent and being able to take advantage of certain opportunities that would otherwise be not available; if I was with a gigantic label with other artists scheduled to utilize most of the music dollars for their promotion. I am very interested to see what the future has to hold.

Who and what are your influences?

My parents played an integral role growing up and exposing me to music, so they played the most significant influence by letting my twin and I play in their record collection growing up. Once we figured out how to work the record player it was a whole new world. Being from Staten Island, Wu Tang played a huge role in everyday life as well as a major influence on how I wanted to elevate my poems into lyrics and then recite them on top of instrumental beats. I was hooked and I hit the ground running developing my skills.

What should people expect from your upcoming 2016 projects?

2016 has been a whirlwind so far. Hosting a Mixtape, releasing the album “Time Of My Life,” 3 successful over 100k views each video release, we are anticipating even better responses from the next addition to 2016 with the release of my new upcoming video and song titled “Party Started.”

Is there anything you would like our readers to know?

I would like the readers to know that I’m a just regular guy at the end of day that chose to chase his dream without taking “No” for an answer. I haven’t reached the finish line by any means, but I’m happy to just be in the race that seems to be running smoothly.

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!” moment…

I would have to say my craziest “where they do that at” moment would have to be in my “AWW YEAH” video when you see me walking on the airstrip runway wearing a flight suit and parachute like i just went skydiving from a helicopter in order to get my glass of bubbly from the hot sexy stewardess. But to be honest…the craziness has just begun so stay tuned for what the future will bring.
