Julie – why do we do this to ourselves? We all know that the school season is coming and every year we are not prepared.

I know it’s crazy. I have three kids, so I’m always trying to eke out that last day of summer. One more trip to the pool maybe a trip to the zoo, whatever you can do get a little more summer in. The back-to-school shopping just sneaks up on you but it doesn’t have to be this hard. You can shop on Amazon and it will make your life a lot easier.

What advice do you have for parents?

So, if you start at amazon.com/backtoschool you can get everything you need at great prices to fill up your backpacks. This year it’s all organized really easily by grade, so you click into the grades and then we’ve curated a lot of the selection based on the most likely things that are on your list. I know it varies by school all around the country. There’s also bundles. I brought this from my home. This is my daughter’s first grade bundle that came from Amazon and it comes with individually sized packets which is so handy.

I mean who needs 200 highlighters, you really only need three for life, but this is really easy! There’s lots of different kinds of bundles on Amazon depending on the age and where your son or daughter is going to school. You can get them right there and Amazon along with the backpacks — I just say you need a backpack apparently you need a new one every year — I don’t know why last years doesn’t work. But all the backpacks are on Amazon and you can find every character in color and shape and size just for you. So, start at Amazon and we’ll ship it right to your door.

What are some of the biggest trends this year?

So, things are always inspired by the movies right! So, the Spider web movie is very popular this year, so you’ll see a lot of spider-man. I know my daughter is really into Moana, so I am on the hunt for Moana. Although emojis! The emoji movie inspired a lot of folders and backpacks. These are some dividers! The emojis have exploded everywhere.

Also, because of social media and our smartphones you’ll see them on everything. Then the last trend I wanted to tell you about are stickers. Now these are not the puffy stickers of our youth my friend, these are beautiful really sophisticated stickers. They have foil! You can actually personalize them, write your own message, put them on a folder and make things your own. So, I really love those! Don’t forget to put those in your shopping cart as well.

What are some “can’t miss” deals for parents?

So, the can’t-miss deals on Amazon on that same back-to-school page there’s a button right there for deals. You click on that every single day your shopping, doesn’t matter when you shop, you’ll always find deals in there. Right now, as well, apparel is up to 25 percent off. So, jeans and t-shirts all that stuff you can get on Amazon. Some of those are the things that I wait on just to see what the trends are because I’m already going to be buying so many shoes this year because their feet grow so fast.

I want to get the exact ones that they want and get those on Amazon. One of the best deals right now actually is for college kids. All year long, you can get prime as a college kid for 50 percent off. That prime student program is so great, $49 a year, fast free shipping right to your dorm room, as well as, free streaming of movies and music, and it’s definitely an essential for college kids.

Back-to-school season can be even more stressful for children in need. What are some of the ways customers can give back through Amazon this back-to-school season?

I’m so glad you asked that. There’s two ways to shop and give while you’re shopping on Amazon. One, all year long I always say, just start with a smile. Smile.amazon.com, you can choose whatever charity you want. In fact, you can even choose your own PTA or your local school, and then every purchase goes to the charity that you’ve selected. Also new this year on amazon.com/backtoschool, you can shop with UNICEF USA and they are supporting vulnerable children around the world who don’t have access to education. For as little as six dollars can purchase over 200 pencils, which is really great. You can do that, just add some of the pencils or more to your shopping cart while you’re getting all your back-to-school supplies right there on Amazon.

Where can viewers get additional information?

If you need more information just go to amazon.com/backtoschool. The only other thing you cannot miss are the tablets if you have a son or daughter — you know what I’m talking about — these beautiful tablets from Amazon also come with this great case and a two-year worry-free guarantee. That means you could drop it and if it breaks for two years we’ll replace it, no questions asked and we will ship you a new one. So, make sure you get all of those at amazon.com/back to school and you’ll be set.
