Hindowa Releases “Faces”

Takoma, Maryland’s Hindowa has released “Faces”. The mellow track was produced by Lucid Soundz and released on Christmas Day of this past year. Hindowa’s low voice kicks off the song, before percussion settles in with some kicks and snares, the original piano melody floating over the drums. Chopped hi-hats at the end of every bar add to the punch of Hindowa’s flow. The lyrics are somewhat of an admission and an account of the Liberian rapper/singers’ transition from Maryland to Los Angeles just a year ago, with him repeating “I’m horrible with names, but good with faces” throughout the track.

The 25-year-old musician has been writing lyrics since age 12, after realizing the power his words had during freestyle sessions with his friends. Prior to his move to Los Angeles, he made music under the moniker Vito Takoma, before choosing to adopt his birth name, Hindowa. He notes his greatest influences to be Devin The Dude and LL Cool J, and lists B.Young & Lucid Soundz as his current favorite producers. The young MC also reveals that he’ll be using Kanye as a reference and inspiration on his upcoming tracks, as Kanye has disclosed his father lived in Hindowa’s very own Takoma park neighborhood. Interestingly, Hindowa’s latest song is void of profanity, and he states he plans to “continue implementing a fun, human, loving, vulnerable sound” in his forthcoming releases.

“Faces” is now available on Spotify, Apple Music, and across all streaming platforms.
