Natasha Jane Julian recently released her latest single, ‘Take Me To Paradise,’ which is an excellent song and perfectly primed for the summer.
For those who haven’t listened to her, Natasha Jane Julian has emerged as a seriously intriguing pop artist in recent years, with music that has been favorably compared with Lana Del Rey, Sia, and Coldplay.
Having played music most of her life, the California native began recording and sharing songs with the world in 2018, quickly winning over a sizeable fanbase.
A watershed moment came for the artist in 2019, when she released her debut EP, Angel, in collaboration with the Grammy Award-winning producer Dom Morley. The EP opened new avenues for Natasha regarding her career and artistic creativity, meaning that she has been making music in the years following the EP’s release.
This has resulted in a flurry of brilliant singles in the last few years, including ‘Just Breathe’ and ‘I’ll Be Your Goddess,’ as well as several notable music videos to accompany the release of these singles.
Natasha announced last year that work had begun on her long-awaited debut album, Beauty That Lies. She immediately started sharing singles from that album, meaning that fans were treated to recent releases like ‘Pink Roses,’ ‘Singing In the Rain,’ and ‘Devil Eyes.’ Each of these singles was a clear window into a more sophisticated music artist who had perfected an ambient, downtempo, electro-pop style, which she could infuse with powerful lyrics and deliciously dreamy, sensuous melodies. Natasha has suggested in the past that her work is about “soothing the soul and fueling the dreams” of her listeners, and these latest singles feel like she’s pinpointed precisely how to achieve these ambitions…

Her single, ‘Take Me To Paradise,’ is the fourth release from her new album. It follows similarly to the previous singles but also feels more pop-oriented. ‘Take Me To Paradise’ is built on a foundation of ambient, dreamy electro-pop, which wouldn’t sound out of place blasted from the sound system of a lazy, picturesque beach bar. This is the music of sunsets, sandy beaches, and romance in the day’s burning heat.
Even as the song’s lyrics traverse emotions of heartache and loss, ‘Take Me To Paradise’ holds a summery sheen throughout – meaning it simultaneously works on several levels.
