Rob Van Dam On Working With IMPACT Wrestling, IMPACT’s Live Events In Las Vegas & More

As a former holder of the WWE Championship, the ECW World Heavyweight Championship and the TNA World Heavyweight Championship alike, current IMPACT Wrestling superstar Rob Van Dam — simply known around the world as “RVD” — is considered to be one of professional wrestling’s all-time greats. Van Dam re-signed with IMPACT Wrestling earlier this spring, joining a stacked roster that also includes World Champion Brian Cage, Rhyno, TJP, former NFL player Moose, reigning X-Division Champion Jake Crist, current Knockouts champion Taya Valkyrie, and Tenille Dashwood.

The future Hall Of Fame wrestler calls Las Vegas his hometown these days. Luckily for RVD, the IMPACT Wrestling crew is currently in Vegas for back-to-back nights of shows on September 5th and 6th at Sam’s Town Live, where the in-ring action is scheduled to begin on both nights at 6:00 PM local time. Interestingly, these IMPACT television tapings are set to include UFC Hall Of Fame inductee (turned wrestler) Ken Shamrock who is currently feuding with the aforementioned Moose.

I had the pleasure of speaking with RVD himself by phone on the eve of IMPACT’s live events at Sam’s Town Live. RVD not only spoke with me about his current work with IMPACT — a company which he thinks the world of — but also his stand-up comedy career, his love of mafia history, his martial arts background, why he enjoys living in Vegas, and cohabiting with fellow wrestler Katie Forbes.

The full interview with Rob Van Dam — an exclusive to Sportskeeda — can be streamed below via a YouTube embed, while some of its transcription can be read here. The RVD interview audio will be downloadable via a future edition of the Paltrocast With Darren Paltrowitz podcast.
