Jaebanzz – Wasted N Laced It

Official Line – Jaebanzz makes emo rap saturated with color and punctuated with undeniable charm. Exploding off SoundCloud and into his own with his new singles “Wasted N Laced It” and “Willow’s World,” the 19-year-old Miami native is ready to steal hearts with his commitment to the flow and confessional lyrics.

Born Jiubel Rodriguez to Cuban immigrants, Jaebanzz was brought up in a Spanish-speaking household that encouraged his creative side: “They let me be who I wanna be.” Growing up surrounded by classic rock and reggaeton, he found musical heroes in artists such as Lil Uzi Vert, TrippieRedd and Juice WRLD, the latter of which he calls his biggest influence. “I love the beats that he chose,” Jaebanzz says of the late rapper. “He was a rockstar with a style of his own. I want to be just like that.”<

The origin story of Jaebanzz as an artist kicks off the summer after his sophomore year of high school, after he got in trouble for not attending an SAT prep class. Instead of going to school, he schooled himself and made his first song. “I got grounded and my dad’s laptop had GarageBand on it,” he recalls. “I said, ‘fuck it,’ downloaded a beat and made my first song. I played it for my dad later and he said ‘oh shit, this is good.’”

After gaining major traction on SoundCloud with over one million cumulative streams for early, bedroom-produced singles such as “real love?” and “F*CK UR BF,” Jaebanzz made his official debut in February with “Willow’s World.” Ronnie Mills premiered the single, a melodic blitz of self-destruction in the face of heartbreak, on Sirius XM’s Hip Hop Nation. Now, he’s following it up with “Wasted N Laced It,” a song that recounts a bait-and-switch love with the power to stop a pulse.

It’s only the beginning of what’s to come from Jaebanzz. “I still have work to do, I still haven’t found myself completely as an artist,” he admits. “I’m still 19, and I want to evolve throughout my career.” Wherever he goes, he wants people to know that all of this is attainable for them. “I’m just another regular kid making music, pursuing my goals. And I want everyone listening to know that if they put their mind to it, they can do this too.”
