15 Great Canned Beverages To Try This Summer & Enjoy Long-Term

The summer season is indeed underway, even if the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020 still has many people quarantined and/or concerned about dining out. However, with good health and appropriate social distancing intact, there are still plenty of ways that people can celebrate summer-related happenings.

Many top beverage producers — of both the alcoholic and non-alcoholic sectors — are making top-quality drinks in canned form. Below is a mix of recommended drinks for you and yours to try when celebratory vibes are intact this summer, as featuring all sorts of tastes, textures and price-points.

Tempo

A CBD-infused matcha sparkling drink, Tempo’s sparkling matcha beverage with Raspberry + Lime contains 25mg of CBD and 25mg of natural caffeine. Altogether, it designed to provide a kick of energy with a balanced sense of calm during quarantine days. Furthermore, Tempo is crafted to support and enhance the body’s natural functions, and provide a solution to improve our daily performance, manage stress, and help you to relax.

Uniquely, each can of Tempo includes a QR code so that you can see lab results related to the drink. You can order a 4-pack of Tempo online for $19.99, while 12-packs are available online for $47.99.

+Red Elixir

Aimed to optimize one’s performance and elevate power levels naturally, +Red Elixir is reportedly redefining the energy drink market with its unique ingredients. In turn, +Red Elixir includes Red Marine Algae (to help fight against invading organisms and viral infections) and vegetable extracts (to help recharge your body). The drink is also formulated with natural caffeine from Green Coffee Bean Extract, while L-Arginine and L-Citrulline amino acids to help build protein and relieve post exercise muscle soreness.

The three categories of +Red Elixir — Rescue, Power, and Power20 — are available in Dragon Fruit, Berry Citrus, and Blood Orange. They are available for purchase at Amazon, Walmart, Sprouts and Target alike.

Tavour

Washington State-based Tavour is a company that tries thousands of beers from small craft breweries, ultimately bringing you the gems you can’t get at the store. In turn, Tavour works directly with hundreds of independent breweries to curate craft beer gift boxes with one-of-a-kind selections. In turn with selections as diverse as the Vanilla Ice Cream Stout from Wild Leap Brew Co. in Georgia and the Juicy IPA from WeldWerks Brewing in Colorado, a Tavour purchase is ideal for any sort of gift-giving opportunity you may come across.

Excellent beer offerings aside, Tavour is onboard with the on-going “Black is Beautiful” beer-related campaign, which brings awareness to more individuals and helps to bridge the gap. Started by Marcus Bakerville, the head brewer and founder of Weathered Souls Brewery, this partnership includes more than 500 breweries from around the country; to join this partnership these breweries have decided to donate 100 percent of the beer’s proceeds to local foundations to support the black community and commit to the long-term work of equality.

Alani Nu’s Energy Drinks

Alani’s energy drinks are naturally formulated to bring you an extra boost during your busy day. These drinks have zero sugar, 10 calories, and a little dash of biotin to support your natural glow. I had the pleasure of trying Mimosa, Hawaiian Shaved Ice, Cosmic Stardust and Tropsicle from the Alani energy drink collection, and my favorite is the Cosmic Stardust — strong but not too strong, delicious, and served in a coolly-designed can.

Energy drinks are not all Alani is known for, however. The brand also sells protein powders, protein bars, “fit” gummy bears, and nutritional supplements. My favorite non-drink sampled was the Confetti Cake-flavored Whey Protein Powder. The container provides up to 30 servings of the powder, which delivers 23 grams of protein per scoop with only 3 carbs and 1 gram of sugar.

Prairie Organic Spirits’ Sparkling Craft Cocktails

Every batch of Prairie Organics Spirits’ farm-crafted spirits begin as single vintage, 100 percent USDA Certified organic yellow corn that’s non-GMO and grown on local family farms. The brand’s farmers grow organically, without herbicides and pesticides, distilling every batch until it tastes just right. Thus, why many have referred to Prairie Organic Spirits as the #1 organic spirit label out there.

New for the brand are its canned sparkling craft cocktails, which include those aforementioned award-winning organic vodkas and gin. They come in 3 flavorful varieties: Cucumber Lemonade, Grapefruit, and Minnesota Bootleg. What is Minnesota Bootleg, you ask? In the brand’s words: “A trifecta of savory mint, crisp lime and slight sweetness provide a clean taste that’ll leave you feeling Minnesota nice.”

Reed’s Zero Sugar Mule

Reed’s is America’s #1 Ginger Brand, and Reed’s new Zero Sugar Mule is an ideal ready-to-drink, alcoholic craft beverage. At 7 percent ABV, it carrys a light-spice flavor profile with no artificial colors, gluten, GMOs or caffeine. In turn, this sugar-free mule indeed features real, fresh ginger. An all-purpose sort of adult beverage, you can serve it straight up, over ice, or as part of a cocktail.

Volley

National Tequila Day 2020 may be behind us, but that shouldn’t keep you from celebrating — virtually or not — with your favorite agave-based spirit. Volley is a new tequila-based seltzer made with just three clean ingredients: 100 percent blue agave tequila (from the Highlands of Jalisco, Mexico), sparkling water, and organic juice. Reportedly the first “clean” tequila seltzer on the market, Volley includes zero commonly-used fake sugars, natural flavorings, essences or corn syrup. Available in 4 guilt-free flavors: Zesty Lime, Spicy Ginger, Sharp Grapefruit and Tropical Mango, Volley’s gluten-free seltzers are best enjoyed chilled and can be enjoyed from the can or mixed into a fun and fruity beachside tequila cocktail.

To add to the good, clean fun, Volley will host beach cleanups and outdoor educational events this summer in partnership with Leave No Trace, a non-profit that provides resources so every person can protect + enjoy our natural world.

BON V!V

BON V!V — previously BON & VIV Spiked Seltzer — came back with a new look and modified name this year. But BON V!V is still made with the same great taste, zero sugar, 90 calories, and the perfect balance of 4.5 percent ABV that its followers came to expect.

Last year, in time with the kick-off of the 2019 NFL season, the brand staged a stunt that got millions of people talking. It offered a $1,000 challenge to everyday people who had tasted BON V!V Classic next to competitor White Claw Pure. That aforementioned polygraph was administered by Hollywood’s notorious polygraph expert (and reality television staple) John Grogan, while ESPN regular Adam Schefter — as also regularly heard on ESPN 1000 in Chicago — had joined into the unique promotion as an “NFL truth-teller.”

MOVO Wine Spritzers

MOVO Wine Spritzers is a modern take on vino. With only 100 calories and no sugar added, its canned beverages are light and free of corkscrews. Its ingredients are indeed basic: wine, sparkling water, fruit juice and natural flavors. Peach Blend, Raspberry Rose and Blood Orange Sangria are its flavor options.

Also cool about the MOVO brand is that it has created an ultra-premium and very limited-edition custom bike that doubles as a wine bar and charcuterie board. The MOVO Wine Cruiser, indeed a wine and cheese-friendly bike, also features a utensil holder, an inner-cooler that holds four cans, and a back cooler. These bikes go on-sale today on July 25th and there’s only FOUR bicycles designed — why 4 bikes, you ask? Because that’s how many MOVO cans come in a pack.

F!VE DRINKS CO

F!VE DRINKS CO. is a line of mixologist-developed, ready-to-drink canned cocktails, as crafted with high-quality ingredients. The 5 industry veterans behind the brand, as soft launched in Miami last year, have a combined 100 years of beverage industry experience.

This line of classic cocktails includes Gin & Tonic, Margarita, Moscow Mule, Paloma, Mojito and Watermelon Vodka Soda offerings. Each flavor is made with no more than 5 all-natural ingredients — examples being hibiscus, tamarind and coconut water — for effortless consumption. Unlike other malt-based imposters and canned beverages, F!VE DRINKS features no artificial ingredients.

Waterloo Sparking Water

In 2017, after recognizing that consumers were seeking — but not finding — beverage choices which were healthy, authentic, transparent and better-for-them while tasting great, Waterloo Sparkling was launched. The Austin-based brand is a bold take on sparkling water, making its mark by focusing on fruit-inspired flavor and aroma, and delivering a much richer, more authentic taste.

Waterloo is made with Non-GMO Project Verified and Whole 30 Approved flavors — its latest flavor is the delicious Lemon-Lime — while also free of calories, sodium, sugar and artificial sweeteners. For the benefit of their fans and the environment, Waterloo has only ever been produced in aluminum cans, made with BPA-free liners. In turn, Waterloo’s sparking water is ideal for mixing with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, while also great on its own.

Grüvi

While alcohol remains so pervasive in our society, the team behind Grüvi challenged itself to create a brand that breaks this cycle. In turn, Grüvi has an acclaimed ine of craft, non-alcoholic beers and wine. Grüvi also helps break misconceptions about the taste of said non-alcoholic offerings, delivering tasty, healthy brews. Defintely the first brand to successfully make high-quality, alcohol-free versions of Prosecco, IPA, Weisse and Stout-oriented beverages.

Lime & tequila. Name a more iconic duo.

Onda Sparkling Tequila

Onda’s line of premium canned sparkling tequila is crafted with blanco tequila from Jalisco, Mexico, and uses real fruit juice, unlike other canned beverages on the market that have questionable ingredients and a mystery alcohol base. The beverage comes in two flavors — Grapefruit and Lime – and both have 5 percent ABV, 100 calories, and zero sugars and carbs in each can.

Should the Onda brand sound familiar, the spirits brand was co-founded by ctress and entrepreneur Shay Mitchell (Chief Brand Officer). along with Noah Gray (CEO), Max Dworin (COO) and Kelli Adams (Chief Creative Officer). Commented Mitchell in a prepared statement: “Tequila soda is hands-down my favorite drink, and I’m really excited about the opportunity to create a beverage brand that is rooted in quality and shared experiences.”

Bev

Bev is a “better-for-you” canned wine, as recently touted by many celebrities, including Erin and Sara Foster, Kate Hudson and Anna Kendrick. The brand offers 3 refreshing blends perfect for cooling refreshment in the hot summer weather:

California Rosé (crisp, dry and slightly-carbonated with aromatics of strawberry, raspberry, white peach and watermelon), Sauvignon Blanc (aromatics of crisp green apple, white nectarine and a light, fresh, citrus finish), and Pinot Grigio (light and refreshing notes of elderflower, pear, and a zesty grapefruit finish). Every serving of Bev has 11.9 percent ABV, only 3 grams of carbs and absolutely 0 grams of sugar. Bev is available for purchase online, and can currently be found at national retailers throughout California, Texas and Tennessee.

Miami Cocktail Co.

Last year The Miami Cocktail Company released a collection of wine-based Organic SPRITZ canned cocktails in the fall on a national level after a successful South Florida campaign earlier in the year. Created by Miami spirits industry and hospitality veterans Ross Graham and Simon Benstead, Miami Cocktail Company products are all-natural and made with authentic and wholesome ingredients with no additives, preservatives, artificial colors, flavors, or sweeteners.

Offering real handcrafted cocktails, Miami Cocktail Company’s delicious lineup of Organic Spritzes is also low in sulfites, sugar-free and gluten-free, with only 110 calories per can. Each Organic Spritz has a dynamic taste profile, as achieved through natural fruit juices.

Simply put, crowd-pleasers such as the Grapefruit & Hibiscus Paloma Spritz and Elderflower & Ginger Margarita Spritz pack a refreshing punch. The Miami Cocktail Company’s wares are available nationwide online and at major retailers including Fresh Market, Binny’s, and Total Wine.

LIVEWIRE Drinks

Created by renowned Los Angeles bartender Aaron Polsky, the Live Wire Cocktail Company is all about the people, putting the creators of these delicious drinks front and center by making their involvement more than just a recipe, but also the image of the brand and the benefactors of their sales. In turn, if bartenders are “the new rock stars,” then LiveWire is a new record label. Polsky is working with the world’s best bartenders to create exceptional canned cocktails using the best ingredients.

Decked out in specially designed aluminum cans, LiveWire brings the taste one can only find in cool bars created by their top bartenders to the masses. LiveWire’s first offering — Polsky’s most famous cocktail — The Heartbreaker was conceived at Coachella. When it emerged at the festival it was very originally called the Tequila Grapefruit Mule and it sold like gangbusters.

The result is a crisp and juicy blend of vodka, oroblanco grapefruit, kumquat, jasmine, and ginger, with notes of honey and a bubbly finish. It’s a delightful combination of an expertly-crafted Moscow Mule and a fine, fine Paloma Also available in stores now is the Honeydew Collins, an electrifying mix of gin, honeydew, lime leaf, coconut and elderflower by fellow Harvard & Stone alum Joey Bernardo.
