10 Things To Know About: Owen Meany’s Batting Stance

Ahead of his brand new album ‘Feather Weights’, Owen Meany’s Batting Stance’s Daniel Walker returns with his new blissful single ‘Breakfast Again.’ Plotted around the consequences of a lost love, Daniel explains “Breakfast Again is about the emotions: the worries and resolution that come with no longer sharing a life with someone important to you.”

Digging a little deeper, Hype Magazine asked Daniel to share 10 utterly random facts about himself – including the reasoning behind breaking his big toe!

  1. In my youth I was a football goalie. Once in the finals an opponent kicked the ball from 3 meters out squarely hitting me in the face. I fell from the impact while he got the rebound and scored. We lost 1-0 and I stopped playing the position thereafter from my 9 year old self’s perceived injustice.
  2. Past jobs of mine include working at a Plant Nursery and children’s toy store.
  3. I’ve ‘kissed’ a giraffe.
  4. Kurt Vonnegut is my favourite author.
  5. I studied Anthropology at university.
  6. At 21 I broke my big toe when I kicked a titanium blender venting frustration after my sister lost a rare Bright Eyes EP I had bought my best friend for Christmas.
  7. The first song I played live was a cover of ‘Am I Wrong’ by Love Spit Love at a grade 12 talent show.
  8. Karl Pilkington is the funniest person alive in my eyes.
  9. When Iron & Wine’s the Shepherd Dog came out he had a show in Toronto. Before the concert he went on MTV live Canada and performed 3 songs after an interview. I was one of two people there so essentially got a private mini Iron and Wine show.
  10. Boy Meets World was my favourite show growing up. Mr. Feeny was my favourite character.
