Jonah Beres On The New Season Of “PEN15,” Career Goals, Creative Influences, Making Music & More

Awesomeness — a subsidiary of ViacomCBS — is a media company aimed towards the global Gen Z audience through its digital publishing, film and television studio divisions. Among the recent successes of Awesomeness is the Emmy-nominated series PEN15, a Hulu Original. The adult teen comedy starring Maya Erskine and Anna Konkle first debuted in February 2019, helping to remind its viewing audience of the pros and cons of a suburban middle school existence in the early 2000s.

Actor Jonah Beres is a cast member on PEN15, which returned for season two on September 18th. Beres portrays the character Brandt, the popular, cool and sort of douchey character who the aforementioned Maya has a crush on. The first episode of this newly-released season is titled “Brandted,” showing that Beres is a central character to the second season of PEN15.

Prior to being cast on PEN15, Jonah Beres had worked plenty within the film and television realms. He made his television debut on Small Shots, as distributed by Netflix. Beres’ other television guest appearances on TNT’s Animal Kingdom, TruTV’s Those Who Can’t and ABC’s Splitting Up Together.

On September 26, 2020, I had the pleasure of speaking with Jonah Beres via Zoom, as embedded below. More on Beres can be found via www.instagram.com/yupwet and www.jonahberes.com.
