Judas Priest’s Rob Halford On His New Book “Confess: The Autobiography,” Plans & More

Formed in 1969 in West Bromwich, England, Judas Priest has sold over 50 million albums to date. Still playing arenas and major festivals around the world — COVID-19 postponed a Fall 2020 headlining arena tour — Judas Priest’s most recent studio album was 2018’s Firepower. Meanwhile, the Priest has won honors in recent years from the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards, the Metal Storm Awards, and the Planet Rock Awards; Firepower landed up in the “top 5” of 17 different countries’ sales charts.

While everyone into classic rock knows Judas Priest classics like “Breaking The Law,” “Living After Midnight” and “You’ve Got Another Thing Coming,” not everyone knows the story behind Judas Priest’s formation or about the many things that went on behind the scenes for frontman Rob Halford and crew. Fortunately, for fans of the Priest, Halford and hard rock as a whole, Confess: The Autobiography was penned for Hachette Books. Simply put, Halford has written a “worts and all” — although generally done with self-deprecation and humility — memoir that finally explains what it is like to be both “the Metal God” and a working-class kid from Walsall, England who had to hide parts of his life from even the people closest to him; all eras of his life are discussed, including life during COVID-19.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford by phone about Confess: The Autobiography, off-tour life in Arizona, future career goals and plenty more, as embedded below. More Halford and Judas Priest information can be found online at www.judaspriest.com, while Confess can be directly ordered via Amazon and all your favorite book-related vendors.
