Meet Rising International Star Börni

International sensation Börni recently dropped her single Kamakaze which hit with a resounding boom as the artist makes her way back to the forefront of the music scene after a transitional period that saw her embrace the American way of doing things. Now returning to her roots she re-emerges stronger than ever with this latest offering. We wanted to know more about Börni and introduce her to our audience as we think she’s someone we’ll be hearing from for quite some time.

From the outside looking in, tell us about Börni?

I found my passion for music at just three years old, when I began singing and playing the violin, soon also turning to the piano and guitar. Throughout my adolescence, I sang in gospel choirs, wrote and performed my own songs in my first garage band, and quickly learned how to perform and entertain an audience. All  these experiences led me to believe I could do this as a career. So when I was older, I was discovered on a show called Music Star and that led to a record deal and a couple of albums with Sony Music. This was definitely a pivotal experience in my life. Also, my first trip to NYC. That laid the foundation for my love and aspirations to be in the American and world music scene. Working very passionately and with persistence, I met likeminded people on my journey and we created so much great music while flying back and forth between both countries. Before long, I realized that although I still embraced the American lifestyle and culture, I was growing into my own identity as a fresh, young, uniquely cool artist while still maintaining my roots in my home country of Switzerland. The new single, Kamakaze, represents all of this and I am so excited for people to hear it.

Was there a defining moment that let you know music was the path for you?

It was pretty clear from the beginning that I couldn’t live without music. I had a great passion for it and an environment and a family who inspired and supported this even more. Every artist though, will have to decide at some point if this is just a hobby or if they should go all in. This is because without persistence and hard work, you won’t make it far in this business. I definitely had a moment after being with a major label, where I had to decide if I was going to continue independently or not. And trust me, almost all artists go through several label situations before they blow up. I did have my moment with God when I was trying to figure out if I should continue or not. After what I consider to have been a divine moment of clarity, I was convinced the right decision was to continue. For me, music is my heart and my passion and passion means freedom – Freedom means happiness so I chose this path and I’m happy to say I never looked back with regret.

What do you want people to get from your music?

My hope is that anyone who listens to my new songs experiences a desire to pursue their dreams and passions. I also want them to realize that anything is possible for them, as long as they don’t allow themselves to give up.

Some people think dreams come true for everyone but them. The purpose behind my music is to show them that they too can live their dreams. As for my music overall, I just want my listeners to feel some sort of positive emotion and want to listen again and again. Whether they respond to my music by dancing around to one of my up-tempos, or vibing out to my mid tempos, or crying tears of joy to one of my ballads, I just want to help spread positive feelings through every song to hopefully uplift the listener in some way.

Tell us about your current project and what it means for you

This is a song about giving it your everything. Going hard. If you have decided to do something, might as well do it to the full. Kamakaze is about letting go of fear and free falling, not to death like the original meaning, but to a better life. And sometimes that takes risks. This is the story of my life. Going hard for the vision I have for myself, and wanting the people around me to see their dreams come true also. It also means getting rid of unwanted distractions and maintaining focus, since having a dream isn’t enough. There’s a lot of work and drive and determination between the dream and the realization of the dream. Kamakaze is about pushing forward and leaving nothing on the table.

This doesn’t just go for me as an individual artist, but my whole team. Synematik, the producer of Kamakaze, is the hardest working person and he just delivers every single time with the dopest production! Christopher Swift, the rapper, is so incredibly talented as a rapper and as a songwriter. They didn’t wake up like this! They had a goal and went all in. Now we can release an amazing project. I hope this all inspires people to do the same with their passion.

For new listeners, what song of yours would you pick as an introduction to you as an artist?

2020 for most of us is probably one of the toughest years for so many reasons. The two brand new singles New Heights and Kamakaze both deliver a message of dreaming big, setting high goals, being persistent and enjoying the journey. However, in every journey you will have ups and downs. Things are challenging right now for so many people, and we will have to keep a good attitude and spirit to get through this. I truly believe there is a bright light for all of us if we persevere and get through this. If you listen to these two songs you will definitely get a great introduction to me, my heart, and my vibe. Music-wise, I think it’s a unique sound with fresh and futuristic touches of pop, blended with underlying hip-hop influences. Listeners can look forward to hearing more really cool music they can relate to and can be inspired by.

Tell us a bit about your work and passions OUTSIDE of music…

Most of what I do is related to music or develops through the platform that music has given me. For example I am very passionate about being involved in the visual side of my artistry. I build concepts for videos and photos and also work with the software used to create all of it. Or I take dance classes because it’s fun and because it makes me a better live performer. The latest passion I was able to discover was thanks to a world-tour I was part of last year. One of my artist-colleagues is an aerial star and I performed with her. We decided to create something together where I could be in the air as well. So now I’m putting in hours of training to become a singing aerial performer with her adding the craziest visuals to it.

What has been the most hilarious moment thus far in your career?

I don’t think there is one hilarious moment, because there has to have been thousands. Being able to create music, visuals and live performances with my best friends, I can promise you every single shoot or session is just such a blast every time. I am so so grateful and blessed to be able to say that I am truly happy where I am and with those I am surrounded by.

What’s next for Börni?

Well, I can say I am soooo ready to release my new music with fun, cool visuals, starting with Kamakaze. And if the people like New Heights & Kamakaze, they will definitely vibe with the upcoming singles, as they all are amazing productions by dope producers such as Synematik and the Page Brothers. For the most up to date info, people can follow me on IG, FB or Tik Tok, and on their favorite streaming services to see what’s coming! Thank you all in advance for the love and support!
