0Kennedy On The Relaunch Of The FOX Business Network’s “Kennedy,” MTV, KROQ & More
Earlier this month it was announced that the Fox Business Network was relaunching its acclaimed series Kennedy as of October 19, 2020. The host of Kennedy is of course Lisa “Kennedy” Montgomery, whose primetime show was put on hiatus by Fox Business at the beginning of 2020’s COVID-19 pandemic. The program now airs 4 times a week, from Monday through Thurday at 8:00 PM EST. And per ratings data provided to me from Nielsen Media Research, the second airing of Kennedy impressively drew 170,000 total viewers, 27,000 of that episode’s viewers within the A25-54 demo.
Prior to finding success within the Fox realm, Kennedy was a popular host for both television and radio outlets for decades. One of the most popular VJs for MTV in the 1990s, Kennedy is also a 2-time published author — her latest book is 2013’s The Kennedy Chronicles: The Golden Age Of MTV Through Rose-Colored Glasses — and an in-demand freelance journalist. The bottom line is that Kennedy has stayed relevant, creative, well-respected and interesting for far longer than her harshest of critics, proving to be one of MTV’s most successful VJs post-MTV.
On October 21, 2020, I had the pleasure — and I do mean pleasure — of interviewing Kennedy via Zoom, as embedded below. We initially discussed the relaunch of Kennedy on the Fox Business Network, in which she explained her creative process on the show to me. Then we moved along to discussion of her multi-faceted career, long-term plans, family life and even Van Halen; stayed tune late in the interview for a rare anecdote about David Lee Roth and Eddie Van Halen.
