RAGS AND RICHES releases “Tension of the Season”

Nationally Acclaimed Kentucky Band Releases New Single ‘Tension of the Season’,  Looks to Grow in Regionally

Tanner and Peyton Whitt, the brothers who make up RAGS AND RICHES released their newest single, ‘Tension of the Season’ on Friday, October 9, 2020.  The band, who launched in late 2017, spent most of 2019 and early 2020 touring nationally and headlining a tour.

During the pandemic they returned home to focus on family and continued musical development. Their versatility, approachability and talent position them for all genres of music with a focus on adrenalized, clean pop, rock and alternative. Peyton and Tanner want to leave their listeners with a positive message of hope and inspiration for a generation of dreamers.

The duo got their start by playing music in churches and local bands. Their music is both relatable and appropriate for all ages and has a focus on the current climate of life. In July 2020, they released the feel good pop hit, ‘Summer Nights.’

The band won the 2019 Cincinnati Battle of the Bands, and has been on a meteoric national rise earning a Little Star PR Campaign and partnering with Big Picture Media. They have performed in over 150+ regional and national concert venues and 30+ states. Since bursting onto the scene in 2019, the band has received national acclaim from 50+ music agencies and media organizations. RAGS AND RICHES look to emerge nationally again.

This single, ‘Tension of the Season,’ expresses what many in our community are feeling as we weather the COVID19 pandemic. The brothers shares the story behind the song’s development saying,

“The title ‘Tension of the Season’, has been in my head for over a year. Peyton and I (Tanner) never could find the right music or the right words to write the song. In April, our grandfather experienced a nearly fatal stroke. With Covid-19, no one could be with him in the hospital during this period. There were so many unknowns in our life. That is when we knew it was time to write. The words “tomorrow’s a brand new day, any second is bound to change” were more relevant than ever. Originally, the doctor’s prognosis wasn’t the news we wanted to hear, but day by day he beat the odds stacked against him.”

They have consistently earned national coverage for each of their musical releases while clocking an impressive 750,000 Spotify streams and 500,000 YouTube views on their debut single, ‘Speed of Sound’. Followup releases ‘Arrival,’ ‘X,’ ‘War Cry,’ ‘Not a Stranger’ and ‘Light It Up’ showcase their eclectic genre crossover.

Each single the Whitt brothers released is accompanied by a fully produced video. Indiana Cowboy Films produced ‘Tension of the Season’’s video under the direction of Christian Campbell.

Rags and Riches is now booking outdoor concerts, virtual sets, virtual concerts and live performances for 2020 and 2021. To book the band, please contact Doran Eichenberg. Their ideal booking would include a concert for communities, music venues, commercials, college campuses, regional and national tv.

The Whitt brothers named their band from humble beginnings at a part time job that paved the way for their musical ideologies and goals of connecting with their community.

“Peyton and I (Tanner) were working at a rug cleaning shop in Lexington, KY. Talking through hundreds of potential names for this band I just blurted out “RAGS AND RICHES”. We both knew right then that was the perfect fit, as we had been brainstorming for months. All along we wanted a name that was not only positive, but something that connected people. The deeper meaning behind it all is, “whether you come from wealth or poverty, we are one people equal and united.”
