Recording Artist and Producer Brooklyn Michelle is One to Watch

Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Brooklyn Michelle is the breakout recording artist and producer everyone should be keeping an eye on.

Using music as a coping mechanism, Brooklyn, started writing her own songs and performing at the young age of 12. After years of struggling with undiagnosed diseases that led to mental illness, Brooklyn quickly put pen to paper and used music as the expressive outlet she needed to move forward in life. This was the creative process to her 2019 debut album, Lithium, which was a “beautifully chaotic” seven-year testimony to living with untreated Bipolar disorder.

Gearing up to release her long awaited sophomore album, Placebo, Brooklyn gave fans a taste of what to expect in her highly anticipated single and music video, Retail Therapy. The single, released this Oct. 16th, quickly took off and garnered much attention not only on listening platforms, but as well as on social platforms like TikTok, where creators were influenced by the song to show off guilty shopping habits of their own!

“Retail Therapy” marks the first of its predecessors which will slowly build upon, and parallel, Placebo’s storyline, track by track. The single’s order in the tracklist serves as the emotional turning point in the album, which encourages the personal growth and strength that one can get in the most therapeutic of ways. To keep momentum going, Brooklyn will be breaking in the new year with two new tracks “Creepin’” and “Come Here” leading up to the release of her EP in early 2021

Outside of writing, Brooklyn continues to work on her production company Waffledog Productions to release her upcoming music videos. Inspired to bring her visions to life, she has taken part in directing and editing all her music videos to date, including her most recent single “Retail Therapy.” Alongside director of photography, Jacob Glombowski, they are eager to get the company off the ground with other artists, with goals to eventually produce TV shows and movies.

Brooklyn credits the overall success of her career to her grandfather who saw talent in her from a young age. After losing him to pancreatic cancer at the age of 12, Brooklyn quickly joined as a board member of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network San Antonio affiliate. She has since founded the Purple Palooza festival, an annual charity event to raise awareness and funding to fight the deadliest and least acknowledged cancer. She founded the festival as a way to involve her grandfather in her music and hopes her part in the music industry will eventually grow the festival nationwide.

When Brooklyn is not expressing herself through music, she is practicing her art on canvas in her own art studio, specializing in figurative realism. Her available artwork can be found here. Outside of the artistic realm, Brooklyn enjoys returning to her old job in assisting dogs in need of medical attention or staying home and streaming her favorite game, Call of Duty, on Twitch.

As the multi-talented artist and producer continues to take fans on a journey to the raw battles and truth about mental health struggles, Brooklyn sheds hope to those through the help of her music. Unafraid and unapologetic for her authenticity, Brooklyn is one to watch, as she takes the music scene by storm.
