0Budderside’s Patrick Stone On The Upcoming “Spiritual Violence” Album, Rock Influences & More
Los Angeles-based rock band Budderside was notably signed to Motörhead Music by the late Motörhead vocalist Lemmy Kilmister. In December 2020, the band announced the March 26, 2021 release of its first new studio album in 4 years, Spiritual Violence. The full-length was recorded with legendary producer Jay Baumgardner (Bush, Godsmack, Papa Roach) and mastered by GRAMMY-winning engineer Howie Weinberg (Nirvana, The Smashing Pumpkins). It also includes appearances by Carla Harvey (Butcher Babies), Phil Campbell (Motörhead) and the Musyca Children’s Choir.
Budderside was formed by frontman Patrick Stone following stints fronting Adler’s Appetite and working as a roadie for the aforementioned Motörhead. The band’s touring credits include Motörhead, Slayer, Anthrax and L.A. Guns, in addition to being featured on international festivals like Wacken Open Air, Motörboat, Malmö Festival and the Monsters Of Rock Cruise. Budderside’s lineup includes guitarists Sam “Bam” Koltun (Faster Pussycat, Dorothy) and Logan Nikolic, bassist Gabe Maska and drummer Jeff Dewbray. Recently, Budderside participated in a livestream event from the iconic Sunset Strip club The Whisky-A-Go-Go in West Hollywood including music historian Matt Pinfield.
On February 6, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with Patrick Stone via Zoom, as embedded below. We spoke about the band’s future plans, his musical influences and plenty more within our conversation.
