Butcher Babies’ Heidi Shepherd & Carla Harvey On The New “Yorktown” Video, Future Plans, The Osmonds, Utah & More

Formed over a decade ago, the Los Angeles-based band known as Butcher Babies is fronted by singers Heidi Shepherd and Carla Harvey. Rounded out by guitarist Henry Flury, bassist Ricky Bonazza, and drummer Chase Brickenden, the group has released 3 high-charting albums via Century Media Records. Its latest release is the music video for “Yorktown,” as directed by Aaron Sorensen.

The newly-released “Yorktown” video features nods to Nirvana and to Adam West’s Batman in equal measure. Without giving too much, its 2 lead characters form a bond and promise to defend the residents of Yorktown together. This video was filmed in Orem, Utah — home of Shepherd’s family and their film studio Shepherd Grip & Lighting –as her parents and 5 siblings created the video’s set design, lighting design, ran all the equipment, and took on many roles in front of and behind the camera. The video “Yorktown” is already close to 60,000 views on YouTube just 2 days after its initial release, looking to quickly surpass the success of the previous Butcher Babies music video for “Sleeping With The Enemy”; “Sleeping With The Enemy” was released just 3 weeks ago.

On February 17, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with both Heidi Shepherd and Carla Harvey via Zoom, as embedded below. More on Butcher Babies can be found online here, here, here and here.
