As you know, ‘Gatsby’ is a quick reminder of ‘Great Gatsby’. How did you come up with your name? What inspired it?

I feel like more than anything, the lifestyle that I have been blessed to live coupled with my love for love drove me down the path to being named GATSBY. As you may know from reading the book or watching the movie, The Great Gatsby was able to achieve so much in his life all for the search of a long-lost love interest. I feel I can relate to that in my own story and see many comparisons to the character from the novel.

How do you feel growing up in Brooklyn influenced your musical style?

To be clear, I was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in North Carolina. My father, who did grow up in Brooklyn and went on to become a radio DJ influenced most of my musical interest as a child. He exposed me to a wide variety of musical genres including old school soul, funk, and house just to name a few. Music was always a very big part of my upbringing and there weren’t too many moments of silence growing up with a DJ as a dad.

What artists influence you now and who are you currently listening to?

Michael Jackson is my all-time favorite artist and his music comes on my Tidal playlist frequently. Currently I spend a lot of time listening to artists like Anderson .Paak and Lucky Daye.

What projects are you currently working on? Can we expect new music soon?

I’m always working, so YES! New music will definitely be coming soon. I have just finished up post-production on my debut album and look forward to releasing it in the very near future. I’ve also started laying the foundation for my second project and I very much look forward to getting in the studio with some extremely talented producers real soon!

What was your opinion on The Weeknd’s superbowl performance?

I really thought it was a great show. I’m a big fan of the Weeknd and his artistic creativity really stood out to me in this performance

You’re a registered pilot! Do you still actively fly and is being a full time pilot in your future?

Yes! I am a multi-engine certified pilot and I do still take to the skies regularly to get some fresh air! I am currently focused on my music career as well as my other companies, so I don’t really see myself flying as a career, but I plan to stay current and proficient so that I can continue to fly recreationally.

If you were to get stuck on a deserted island for the rest of your life but could bring 5 albums with you, what albums would you bring?

Easy choice;
Magna Carta, Holy Grail – Jay-Z,
Invincible – Michael Jackson,
20/20 Experience parts 1 and 2 – Justin Timberlake,
Doo-Wops and Hooligans – Bruno Mars,
Ventura – Anderson .Paak

What is your proudest accomplishment in music thus far?

Besides being interviewed by you? I think getting my two most recent singles featured on regular radio spins in North Carolina and Florida was pretty sweet.
