Who Is Jevon?

Apple’s premier music label Platoon is gearing up for a US push around one of their most talented up-and-coming artists, Jevon who just released his brand new album which is a refreshing mix of sounds that take you on quite the sonic journey. Already a well-known name in the U.K’s music scene, 26-year-old Jevon is ready to make his mark in the States with his new album “Fell in Love in Brazil” released via Platoon.

A new find for us, we wanted to introduce you to this young dynamo so we had him weigh in on a few things

From the outside looking in, who is Jevon?

I’m a bit elusive I guess, I’m not really in the public eye like that so I bet everyone probably thinks I’m a madman.

What brought you to the entertainment industry, music specifically?

I fell in love with the art of it first. The creation part was something that instantly grabbed me after that.

What do you want people to get from your music?

I want people to understand that I put everything into my music and to just appreciate the art of it. I don’t care about money or fame or any of that shit. I would make music for free.

Tell us about your current project.

My project was inspired by my Grandfather who left me some Brazilian vinyl when he passed away. I decided to go to Brazil and make the album there.

What’s prompted your foray into the United States market at this time?

I think there’s been a lot of shine on the UK at the moment, but I want the US to see how good our R&B is also. And I just want them to see that the UK is having a Golden Era of music and I’m just honoured to be in a position to showcase my perspective on things musically.

For new listeners, what song of yours would you pick as an introduction to you as an artist?

Wouldn’t be fair to pick one, I feel like each song is like a different version of myself.

Tell us a bit about your work and passions OUTSIDE of music…

My kids are my passion. My family is my passion. I like cooking too. I like creative stuff.

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “WTF?! moment…

I would say when I finally finished the album. It was a real omg moment to me.
