From the outside looking in, who is the producer Slyide?
I am a man of faith in God, I believe that the way you treat others determines your character. I’ve lived a hard life in a lot of ways but in others, I’ve always been blessed in others. It’s been an uphill climb but every month I seem to make a small game.
I’ve been through lost loves lost friends and lost hope since I started making music. I’m formerly an artist and I still drop some vocals now n then but my focus is helping artists rise and working with the biggest names in the industry.
Living with Autism and growing up with a mom that did all she could for me and who still is my biggest fan. I have learned to persevere. When I get knocked down I fight to get back up. Because when you hit rock bottom the only way left to go is back up!!!! I have grand dreams. My goal is to not have to worry about finances or money anymore. To live the life I always wanted. To give to charity and help my community and communities nationwide. My heart is very tender. More than anything. I want to make the world a better place.
What brought you to the music industry?
I hadn’t figured out what I wanted to do with my life until I was 29. I always had a love for music and dreamed of being in the history books. On November 13th, 2016 I decided I want led to pursue a career in music. The rest is starting to become history in the making.
Tell us about your current project
I just dropped a remix mixtape on Datpiff titled Redemption. It’s a five-song collection of remixes of tracks by Eminem, NF, Taylor Ray Holbrook, and Upchurch. It has an exclusive pre-drop of Merciless by Son Da One Feat Shroud City. The track is Fully Produced by me.
Also want to aim you in the direction of my other mixtape $LYIDE’$ ALL $TAR$ on Datpiff. A collection of some of the hottest underground talent in the industry in an east coast meets west coast compilation mixtape.
What is the biggest challenge about being an independent producer?
For me, it has been two things. I don’t have funding and I really don’t want to be signed to a major label as I wish to remain indie and retain ownership of my work. I do however wish to be contracted to work with major label artists. The other challenge has been actually making contact with a major label and major indie artists and or their teams. They receive so many emails daily that I’m pretty sure my emails aren’t even being seen.
Where do you find the inspiration to create new music?
I find it within myself whenever I hear a track that moves me. Whenever I think about the life I want and the dreams I have. A very special female who likes to remain out of the spotlight and my mother. Big shout out to God for opening doors that help me see this career and dream is still worth pursuing whenever I feel like giving up.
What’s been the most fun for you about making music?
The most fun part is being able to communicate with the artists and their teams. People I never thought I’d be able to talk to. A dream come true would be to produce a track with Eminem on the mic. Another fun part is learning how versatile I am. I can produce instrumentals for Hip Hop, Crunk, Dirty South, Boom Bap, Trap, Dark Trap, Country Rap, EDM, Trap Metal, and Techno. The fun in that is knowing how talented I really am 🙂
