0Imelda May On Her New Album “11 Past The Hour,” Her Creative Process, Influences & More
Born and raised in The Liberties area of Dublin, Ireland, singer/songwriter Imelda May was reportedly discovered by Jools Holland. She has since gone on to become one of Ireland’s most famous female artists of all-time. May’s credits including performing alongside Lou Reed, Smokey Robinson, Jeff Beck and Van Morrison, beyond touring alongside Elvis Costello & The Imposters in support of her recent limited-edition spoken word poetry EP Slip Of The Tongue.
Imelda May’s 6th studio album is 11 Past The Hour, as due out on April 16, 2021 via the Universal Music Group. It includes collaborations with The Rolling Stones’ Ronnie Wood, Noel Gallagher and Miles Kane, beyond contributions from activists Gina Martin and Dr. Shola Mos-Shogbamimu, co-producer and co-writer Tim Bran (London Grammar, Primal Scream) and string arranger Davide Rossi (Coldplay, U2, Goldfrapp). “Just One Kiss” and “Made To Love” have both been released as singles and performed on television to much acclaim, and are both embedded below for your listening pleasure.
On March 29, 2021, I had the pleasure — and I do mean “the pleasure” — of speaking with Imelda May via Zoom, as embedded below. More on May and 11 Past The Hour can be found online via www.imeldamay.co.uk, twitter.com/ImeldaOfficial and facebook.com/ImeldaMayOfficial.
