Courtney Gains On His New Film “Queen Bees,” Performing Live With Phish, Working With Bruce Dern, Future Plans & More

As directed by Michael Lembek, Queen Bees is the story of independent senior Helen (played Academy Award winner Ellen Burstyn), who moves into a nearby retirement community — just temporarily. Once behind the doors of Pine Grove Senior Community, Helen encounters lusty widows, cutthroat bridge tournaments and a hotbed of bullying “mean girls,” all of which leaves her yearning for the solitude of home. But somewhere between flower-arranging and water aerobics, Helen discovers that it is never too late to make new friends and perhaps even find a new love. A star-studded cast, Queen Bees also features James Caan, Ann-Margret, Jane Curtin, Christopher Lloyd, Loretta Devine and Courtney Gains. It is presently showing in select theaters and available via all key on-demand outlets.

The aforementioned Courtney Gains is someone you have been seeing in key film and television projects for decades. That includes appearances in Back To The Future, Children Of The Corn, Can’t Buy Me Love and The Burbs, beyond guest showings on Seinfeld, Criminal Minds, Arli$$ and ER. Gains has also kept active as a musician, first making waves with his band Ripple Street. His latest musical venture is a solo album Acoustic Gains Vol. 1, which is now out and features the single “There Was A Time.” Queen Bees aside, Gains can also be seen in the new thriller River, which will be out next month.

On June 21, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with Courtney Gains via Zoom, as embedded below. More on Gains and Queen Bees can be found by clicking here, here, here and here.
