Marshall Cook & Will Sasso On The New Movie “Film Fest,” Football, Wrestling, Chris Candy & More

Strike Back Studios — a new joint venture between Realization Films, Public House Films and Hideout Pictures — is behind the acclaimed new entertainment industry-satire known as Film Fest. Simply put, Film Fest perfectly embodies all the ridiculous, ironic and cringeworthy moments found in the world of film festivals. The comedy world-premiered at the Austin Film Festival and is a true ensemble comedy, starring Matt Cook (Man With A Plan, True Blood), Diona Reasonover (NCIS, The Standoff), Will Sasso (Family Guy, Mad TV), Laird Macintosh (Shameless, The Mick), C.J. Vana (Clipped, Hot in Cleveland), Ellen Wong (Glow, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World), Jason Genao (Logan, On My Block), Allison Dunbar (Two Broke Girls, Startup), Dana Powell (Modern Family, Bridesmaids), Brendan Schaub (The Tax Collector, Range 15), Sara Rue (Can’t Hardly Wait, Pearl Harbor) and Rachael Leigh Cook (Love, Guaranteed, She’s All That).

Film Fest was directed by Marshall Cook, written by Cook and Paul Alan Cope (Chicago Fire), produced by Tyler A. Hawes (Superman Returns, Frozen), Cory Pyke (All The Small Things, Hunting Lands), Zack Wilcox (Momentum, Found You Righteous), Auric Steele (The Heisenberg Effect, Downeast) Michelle Jannone and Cook. It will be available for audiences to stream on Amazon Prime, Vudu, Tubi and other streaming platforms along with across TVOD platforms globbaly — including iTunes, Fandango Now, Google Play and YouTube — to rent or purchase beginning on Friday, July 23, 2021.

On July 13, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with writer/director Marshall Cook and actor/comedian Will Sasso via Zoom, as embedded below. Besides Film Fest, we spoke about how the two first connected as friends, professional wrestling, punk rock, Chris Candy, future plans and more. Additional information on Film Fest and its stars can be found by clicking here, here and here.
