5 Things You Should Stop As a Music Artist

WilliefromtheDrive gives a list of habits you should give up today.

William Willard, popularly known as Williefromthedrive, is a music artist who belongs to the streets of Bricks, New York. At the young age of 24, he has achieved a fan base of millions with his singles. Growing from the Brickz was tough. He was the only child who had to find himself in the majority of chances and was raised by his mom. Having a tough childhood has given him harsh experiences by shaping him into the person he is today. He has learned his lessons early and living by the words of his grandpa, he spreads the message that everything will get better with time.

Here’s a list of 5 things that WilliefromtheDrive asks you to stop doing if you want to be seen as a successful music artist.

  1. Stop Dreaming – Most of the time music artists are dreaming about how their life would turn if they become successful. Well, for that, you need to dust yourself off and start working on yourself. There is no magic potion. Things come to those who work for it. You’ve to begin your journey with patience and perseverance. Don’t just dream for it, do it.
  2. Don’t record in a hurry – When you start any journey, the momentum is at its peak initially. You are motivated, highly energized, and ready to perform. But ask yourself, are you prepared for the best? Do not record in a haste. It involves resources and most importantly, your reputation. You don’t want to sabotage that. You want people to know the best version of yours, not just an excited one.
  3. You’re not special – Most of the artists who perform in a recognized band, start overestimating themselves. They prefer to think that they are the ‘only’ star of the band and eventually they might stop valuing others’ time and talent. Refrain yourself from doing that. This is a dead-end approach and might portray you as a self-consumed artist. You don’t want that for your reputation.
  4. Say no to albums – Albums are a huge investment. When you’re starting your journey as a music artist ask yourself, is it a wise choice to make such a huge investment initially? The viral trend these days is to do collaborations. Leverage social media to build your audience. Start with your singles, build a brand on Instagram. Let people stay connected to you and your work. This is a strategy to grow your supporters with zero investment.
  5. Do not expect – When you’re starting, keep in mind the fact that things might take any turn. People might leave you mid-way, don’t rely too much on your team or your followers. Trust the process and just keep doing your best every single day. One day or the other, everything will eventually fit into its place.

The artistic journey could be scary for a lot of you out there. Without proper guidance and an idol to follow, it is likely that one might fail. Stay tuned with the latest single ‘Coz of U’ by WilliefromtheDrive, try to learn from him, and keep growing.
