0NFL Legend Rod Woodson On Staying Healthy During COVID-19, Working With The NFL Alumni Association, Las Vegas & More
The NFL Alumni Association is made up of former NFL players, coaches, executives, spouses, cheerleaders, and associate members. Part of NFL Alumni’s dual mission is “Caring For Kids,” and its player alumni are known to give back in their local communities by raising funds for youth-related charities through the organization’s 35 regional chapters; it is a tradition that has existed for more than 50 years. The other half of NFLA’s mission, “Caring For Our Own” is to serve, assist and inform its members and their families. Members are offered a diverse package of wellness, business, career and legal services to help them and their families be healthy, productive, and connected to one another.
The NFL Alumni Health, in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), has kicked off an outreach and education initiative to help promote COVID-19 vaccination confidence. The campaign is rolling out nationally and in 20 NFL Alumni chapter cities and regions. NFL Alumni are speaking up to encourage people to get COVID-19 vaccines. Alongside NFL Hall-of-Famers and key spokespeople, more than 40 former and current pro football players — including 20 Super Bowl Champions, 25 Pro Bowlers, and 15 members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame — are part of the new outreach and education initiative. One of those NFL legends speaking on behalf of NFL Alumni Health is Rod Woodson, a Pro Football Hall of Famer, Super Bowl Champion and 11-time Pro Bowler.
On August 16, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with Rod Woodson via Zoom, as embedded below. Beyond NFL Alumni Health and vaccination, we spoke about career goals he has held, his Indiana roots, why he lives in Las Vegas, and staying fit. More on Woodson can be found here, here and here.
