Big Freedia is Back With New EP ‘Big Diva Energy’

The “Queen of Bounce,” the legendary Big Freedia is back with her new EP Big Diva Energy, available everywhere today via East/West Records and ADA Worldwide. The 6-song track features the bumpin’, bangin’, and bouncin’ singles we all have fallen in love with over the last year, along with some new ones, sure to carry the heat the Queen Diva started this summer into and through the Fall. To highlight the energy Big Freedia is on with this EP, she leads off with new single and video ‘Not Today’ featuring music star Jake Shears from the iconic Scissor Sisters and Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph (Tank and the Bangas, Galactic).

Of the song, Freedia shares, “‘Not Today’ is a track about setting limits with people. It’s about the people who use you and think you aren’t paying attention. I’m saying, “I see you and it’s not gonna happen today, not tomorrow––not never b*tch!”

The new single complements the BDE energy of this new EP, and is the perfect lead track to kick off a project that not only makes a statement, but has us witnessing first hand more of the agency, power and strength that is Big Freedia! “I am beyond honored to jump into the Queen Diva’s Universe,” shares Shears. “It has been a dream of mine for a long time to work with Freedia, and we have had so much fun this last year making music together.”

Also one EP is the Omega and Teal Douville produced banger, ‘BDE’ (which stands for exactly what you’re thinking!) – and oh boy does it bring all the head-spinning ENERGY! It’s Freedia at her finest. With an assist from Jax and viral instrumentalist Marc Rebillet to spice things up sonically, the song’s empowering message is all about swagger, style, confidence and folks who bring infectious ‘boss’-like confidence to not only a room, but the world.

Beyond putting up multi-million streams and views, Freedia continues to garner immense support and critical praise on the EP’s tracks, from the likes of Billboard, Bustle, PAPER, Pitchfork and more, with Rolling Stone favoring and breaking news of the last single ‘Betty Bussit’ featuring Freedia and Tank and the Bangas “(channeling) Flapper Girl Glamour!”
