Marci Liroff On Season 2 Of Starz Hit “Hightown,” What She Does As An Intimacy Coordinator & More

A series from Emmy Award–winner Jerry Bruckheimer (Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise, Top Gun: Maverick, CSI franchise) and Lionsgate Television, Hightown was created by Rebecca Cutter (Gotham) and is overseen by Gary Lennon. Its second season will premiere Sunday, October 17, 2021 across all STARZ platforms at 9:00 PM EST/PST in the U.S. and Canada, and will air day and date internationally on the STARZPLAY premium streaming platform across Europe, Latin America and Japan. The season includes several episodes directed by Cutter, marking her directorial debut within television.

In the show’s second season, the picture-perfect version of summer on Cape Cod clashes with its off-season reality. Jackie Quinones (played by Monica Raymund), achieving her dream of becoming a real cop, is out to do some good in this world. Thrust immediately into the crime wave of deadly carfentanyl flooding the Cape, Jackie is laser-focused on bringing down drug dealer Frankie Cuevas (played by Amaury Nolasco), the man Jackie holds responsible for the death of her best friend Junior. For Jackie, it is personal but then again, for Jackie, everything is personal. When Frankie’s cousin Jorge (played by Luis Guzmán) joins his operation, he introduces a new level of violence and chaos. With disgraced officer Ray Abruzzo (played by James Badge Dale) off the force and mired in depression, Jackie finds a new partner in Leslie (played by Tonya Glanz), the only other female on the force. Through it all, Jackie must walk the tightrope of sobriety as she struggles to stay above an ocean of secrets, betrayal and the shame and failure of her past. Riley Voelkel, Atkins Estimond, and Dohn Norwood also star in the acclaimed Starz series, which offers its fair share of dark comedy.

Marci Liroff works behind the scenes on Hightown as an Intimacy Coordinator. Prior to this phase of her career, Liroff worked on over 50 films as a casting director. Her credits include plenty of blockbusters, including Bob Clark’s A Christmas Story and Porky’s, the Academy Award-nominated Poltergeist, Steven Spielberg’s E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial and Indiana Jones & The Temple Of Doom, Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner, Mean Girls and Footloose. On November 8, 2021, I spoke with Marci Liroff — who can be visited online by clicking here, here, here and/or here — via Zoom, as embedded below.
