Soraia’s ZouZou Mansour On The Band’s “Tight-Lipped” Single, Touring With Joan Jett, Writing With Jon Bon Jovi & More

Earlier this year, Philadelphia-based rock quartet Soraia made an impact on the Billboard charts with its powerful single “Tight-Lipped.” The track, as released in February 2021 as a 7″ single — with a b-side cover of Aerosmith’s “Angel” — featured a guest appearance by the band’s Wicked Cool Records labelmate Jessie Wagner. It racked up radio play on commercial Active Rock stations around the country, including WMMR (Philadelphia), WRIF (Detroit), WRAT (New Jersey), WDHA (New Jersey), KCAL (Southern California), KFMA (Tucson, AZ) and WWSK (Long Island, NY), in addition to spins on SiriusXM’s Underground Garage channel. It ultimately reached the Top 40 on the Billboard Rock Indicator Charts, while its Sam Shapson-helmed music video was premiered via Billboard itself.

Wicked Cool Records — a label overseen by E-Street Band guitarist Steven Van Zandt — is far from the only rock royalty Soraia is affiliated with. The band is a favorite of Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, with whom they are slated to tour alongside in 2022. Meanwhile, Soraia’s independently-released debut 2013 album In The Valley Of Love And Guns featured 5 songs co-written with Jon Bon Jovi. Soraia’s latest full-length Dig Your Roots was produced by Geoff Sanoff (Bruce Springsteen, Fountains Of Wayne).

On November 24, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with Soraia frontwoman ZouZou Mansour about “Tight-Lipped,” future plans for the band — which also includes bassist Travis Smith, drummer Brianna Sig and guitarist Nick Seditious — and plenty more. Additional information on Mansour and Soraia, including its rescheduled tour dates with Jett, can be found by clicking here, here and here.
