0The Corrs’ Sharon Corr On Her New Album “The Fool & The Scorpion,” Songwriting, TV & More
As part of The Corrs, award-winning singer/songwriter Sharon Corr has sold in excess of 45 million albums, toured arenas and stadiums across the globe and become a household name on every continent. Yet with 3 solo albums under her belt, Corr has enjoyed the freedom of total artistic expression with beautifully-crafted melodies and intimate lyrics at the heart of her songwriting. The Fool & The Scorpion is her latest full-length solo effort, as released globally on Septembver 24, 2021.
Inspired by Nick Drake and Joni Mitchell, The Fool & The Scorpion was helmed during a period which Sharon Corr calls “the biggest storm of her life.” In turn, the 10-track album is a cohesive body of work, as recorded live in the studio in just 20 days at Los Angeles studio The Village. Helmed with Larry Klein (Norah Jones, Tracy Chapman, Joni Mitchell) on producing duties, Tim Pierce (Bon Jovi, Celine Dion, Selena Gomez) on guitar and Victor Indrizzo (Alanis Morissette, Shakira, Willie Nelson) on drums, the album’s musicality highlights Corr’s accomplishments, with 30+ years of songwriting behind her.
On November 12, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with Sharon Corr via Zoom, as embedded below. Beyond The Fool & The Scorpion, we spoke about songwriting, musical influences, and television. More on Corr and her new recordings can be found by clicking here, here and here.
