Najarra Townsend On Her New Film “The Darkness Of The Road,” Her Band, Future Projects & More

Horror favorite Najarra Townsend stars in the spine-chilling The Darkness Of The Road, which was released today — December 14, 2021 — on DVD and to digital outlets via Uncork’d Entertainment. Within the film, a single mother and her young daughter are driving on a desolate road in a moonless desert. After meeting a young female hitchhiker at a gas station, the mother realizes her daughter is missing. As they search for her, a merciless force begins to torment the two women, unraveling a world of terror they must survive if they are to discover the terrifying truth behind the daughter’s disappearance. As helmed by director Eduardo Rodriguez (Fright Night 2, El Gringo), The Darkness Of The Road also stars Leah Lauren (Set It Up, Stuck) and Johnny Whitworth (The 100, Empire Records).

The aforementioned Najarra Townsend began her career performing in theater all along the coast of Southern California. Her performance in Miranda July’s award-winning drama Me And You And Everyone We Know drew international attention. Audiences saw a new side of Townsend in the horror hit Contracted. Shortly after, she landed lead roles in the short horror film The Stylist and the crime drama Wolf Mother. Earlier this year she brought the character Claire back to life in the feature film version of The Stylist, which is scheduled to be released on Blu-Ray by Arrow Video next month on June 8, 2021, and was also seen in the film Dementia Part II; I interviewed her about Dementia Part II last May.

On December 14, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with Najarra Townsend via Zoom again, as embedded below. Beyond what is shown below, more on Townsend, The Darkness Of The Road and her band Archway Or The Highway can be found by clicking here, here and here.
