World Boxing Champion Alycia Baumgardner On October 15th Fight Against Mikaela Mayer, Music, Detroit, TV & More

As the head of Matchroom’s boxing division, Eddie Hearn promotes a full roster of talent he has carefully-developed over the years, including World Champions and Olympic gold medalists alike. Under Hearn’s leadership, Matchroom and the sport of boxing have both grown exponentially around the world, and in 2014 Hearn promoted the record-breaking Froch vs. Groves II fight at Wembley Stadium, as watched on-site by 80,000 at the sold-out venue beyond the millions who watched the broadcast around the world. In 2018, Hearn agreed to a historic $1 billion deal with the live streaming sports platform DAZN to stage 16 fights a year across America under the Matchroom Boxing USA banner. In turn, Hearn is not just following in the foosteps of his father — the original founder of Matchroom — Barry Hearn, but he has become one of the world’s leading boxing promoters.

World Boxing Champion Alycia Baumgardner is one of Hearn’s big stars, and she will be fighting against Mikaela Mayer on October 15th at London’s O2 Arena. Currently holding the WBC and IBO Female Super Featherweight Title, this match — which you will be able to watch via ESPN+ — will be Baumgardner’s biggest in-ring battle and highest potential payday. She carries a 12-1 professional career record with 7 wins by knockout, and has reportedly been training three times daily in anticipation of this fight against Mayer. We spoke about this, her goals both in and out of boxing, music and more within our September 30, 2022 Zoom-based conversation, which is embedded below.
