Manuel Beckles, Founder of Shona African Sculptures, Named as the First Winner of NY NOW’s Inaugural Exceptional Black-Owned Emerging Talent Award

Manuel Beckles, founder of Shona African Sculptures and New Jersey-Native, has received NY NOW’s inaugural Exceptional Black-Owned Emerging Talent Award and will be showcasing his sculptures at the upcoming Winter Market being held at the Javits Center from February 6-9.

Manny’s love for collecting African art, Shona sculptures in particular, inspired him to found Shonda African Sculptures in 2015. His work with artists and carvers from Zimbabwe not only supports their families and provides continuous income from art sales worldwide but ensures a higher variety and overall quality that cannot be matched. Based in Dallas, TX, Shona African Sculptures has partnered with local institutions to shed light on these stunning works of art for others to see, enjoy and purchase while supporting and giving back to community.

With support from NY NOW, Manny and Shona African Sculptures will be awarded with a sizable, complimentary booth at both the Winter and Summer Markets, mentoring and guidance from industry experts, and full support from the NY NOW team to ensure a successful market. As the first winner of the Exceptional Black-Owned Emerging Talent Award, NY NOW is eager to provide an impactful program for Manny while he continues to share his brand story, grow as a business, and have access to qualified buyers.
